Wanted to be able to disable Comodo from starting up with XP Prop loads but can not find anyway to do this. One of the reasons is that Comodo does not gracefully shutdown when I use the EXIT option from the right click menu. Instead it gives a "The instruction at 0x7c80cf6d referenced memory a 0x7814dbee. The memory could not be read. Click ok to terminate the program.
Hi,
You should try getting that memory error resolved. BTW what version are you using?
I’m not sure how stopping Comodo from starting when Windows loads is going to prevent the error (unless you decided not to use it at all ).
You can remove Comodo startup by editing the registry, so follow these instructions:
- Start menu > Run, type regedit and hit enter
- Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
- Locate the entry “C:\Program Files\Applications\Comodo\Firewall\CPF.exe” /background
- Right click and choose delete
- Agree to the warning and close regedit
- Reboot

Thanks for the information. I am using 2.3.6.81 and that memory problem only occurs when using the EXIT option on Comodo. I am trying to discover why this old computer is like a 486 performance wise and can not run MER rootkit detector without it doing BSOD on me.
Would be nice if this option to shut down Comodo from loading on startup was a bit more user accessible.
Does your PC create a minidump of your memory error? (C:\Windows\Minidump)
The memory error was due to not being able to use the right mouse click on Comodo and selecting EXIT. Comodo, even after using the registry entry was still loading items on bootup shown by Autoruns . In order to determine why I can not run a rootkit detector software I have had to, at least temporarily , uninstall Comodo.
:-\
Is your PC overclocked? A lot of times you’ll get that error when you’re overclocked a notch too high.
Hope this helps,
Mark
Nope running at the CPUs rated speed.
Now I am getting ■■■■■■. After spending till 4AM working on this computer trying to get GMER (rootkit detector) to run with out it without BSOD on me, I find that even though I told Comodo to uninstall itself a day ago via control panel, some pieces of itself are still installed! I find this out by chalking the BOSD in GMER to the application and start reinstalling Comodo only to be told it was already installed!
No worries, there have been occasions when the system still thinks CPF is installed. What you need to do is, after uninstalling, run a good registry cleaner and then reboot. You should be able to reinstall CPF then.
