How do I remove all traces of Comodo Firewall from computer?

I used Comodo firewall along w/Kaspersky 2009 AV for 1 year with no problems, after I finally got Kaspersky AV to allow me to install Comodo. This was the most hassle and bug -free year I have ever had. Alas, last week, renewed my AV and upgraded to KAV 2010. The first time I tried to install it, I got the message that I needed to uninstall Comodo firewall. I did this and it was still showing up when I tried to install the AV. Then I downloaded the CFP3 file and registry cleaner. I was still getting that message when I tried to install KAV. I tried a couple other things and ended up getting a skip product check tool from Kaspersky. This worked and I was able to install it, but KAV is not working right (not updating.) After numerous attempts at uninstalling, cleaning up the registry and reinstalling, KAV, I am still getting this message. I would like to reinstall Comodo after I get this worked out, but would also like to have my anti-virus operational. Also, as I understand it, I will need to install KAV first and then Comodo, like I did last year. Can anyone help me get all of the traces of Comodo off my computer so that I can start all over? Thanks.

Hello Indianhill,

Have a look at this post please:

See if that can help you in your manual cleanup…

Thank you. I will try. Mine is also a XP 32 bit install. I will let you know if this helps.

To see if there is a Comodo driver still there you can use the following.

We are gonna take a look to see if there are some old drivers of your previously uninstalled security programs are still around. Go to Device Manager → View → show hidden devices → now look under Non Plug and Play drivers → when you see a driver that belongs to your previous security programs click right → uninstall —> reboot your computer.

When the problem persists make sure there are noauto starts from your previous security programs download Autoruns and run it.

This program finds about all auto starts in Windows. This tool can therefore seriously damage Windows when not handled properly. After starting go to Options and choose to hide Windows and Microsoft entries and then push F5 to refresh.

Now check all entries to see if there are references to your previous security program. When you find them untick them. After unticking reboot your computer and see what happens.

Thanks …I went through the registry 2 times and deleted the relevant items also did the autorun…nothing, but Comodo is still showing up. Should I look at all the registry values on my computer to see if traces have ended up somewhere else? That might be a dumb question, but I am completely befuddled. Thanks.

Does it show up in the Windows Security center? Do the security center reset and see if that helps: Reset Windows Security Center - Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, and Privacy Software .

Thank you. All of this information is helpful…I am learning a lot… I followed the instructions on the link and was able to delete the repository folder, but the problem persists.

Thanks - after someone clicked Uninstall I had been unable to reinstall. I found several traces left in the registry, which I have cleared out. Comodo is now reinstalling successfully.
