How can you change AV database location in registry when updating .cav

Hi there guys

I would like to change the location of where the AV .cav database file is located. So that when I perform a AV update it will refer to the new location i.e c, d, e drive etc.

I currently run XP 32bit SP2 as guest in vmware player and have c drive set to none persistent. This means every time I restart my guest os it resets my .cav database to the previous snap shot.

I use to install CIS on d drive but the new version does not like it so installed it on c drive.

Can anyone help with a registry fix or a work around?

Cheers

James

I have no knowledge of a registry fix that could change the AV database folder.

As a workaround you can copy the bases.cav from your host to a USB stick and copy it to the scanners folder on the guest as described in Where can i download the latest full AV database?.

Hi Eric Thanks for your help will do the work around Cheers James
