H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert

I’m experiencing a slight issue for which I need a resolve. I’ve encounter this issue twice; yesterday and this morning.

The H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert is not raising up far enough for me to be able to make a selection, i.e. “Allow” or “Deny”.

This morning after downloading 10 critical updates from Microsoft’s Windows Update Website for Windows XP, upon installation, the H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert slides up but not far enough for me to make a selection aforementioned. Not being able to make a selection, my computer then froze and a manual reboot became necessary. Upon reboot, attempting to download two additional updates that did not initially install rendered the same problem with the H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert.

Yesterday, I encountered this same issue while attempting to install the Secure Email Application. The H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert didn’t raise far enough up for me to make a selection, hence, the reason for my having to uninstall the Secure Email Application and reinstall said application. As such, I have two critical updates from Microsoft Windows Update website that I’m not able to install, due to this malfunction with the H.I.P.S. Application Control Alert not raising up far enough for me to make a selection.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and how can it be resolved?

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

this is a bug noted several times in the forums with the latest CAVS beta. It will be fixed in the next release, hopefully this week :-.
For now I am afraid the best thing to do is to disable HIPS. I am finding it quite annoying as I love the HIPS feature but I am sure the next release will be worth the wait.
