'Good Files Detected' In Log Not Updated After Running Rating Scan [M888]

  1. Diagnostics report as attachment to your post - Yes
  2. The full product and its version e.g. COMODO Firewall 7.0.308911.4080 CIS 7.0.312140.4101
  3. Your Operating System (32 or 64 bit) and ServicePack revision. and if using a virtual machine, which one. 32bit Service Pack 1 Windows 7 Production Machine (Laptop), (not virtual machine)
  4. List all the configuration changes you did. Are you using Default configuration? If no, whats the difference? Proactive Security
    5. Did you install over a previous version without uninstalling first, or import a previous configuration file? (please try to avoid doing these things until we are told it is safe) It was an Auto Install from the last version of CIS 7.0.308911.4080
  5. Other Security, Sandboxing or Utility Software Installed No other
  6. Step by step description to reproduce the issue. Or if you cannot reproduce it, what you actually did before it happened, step by step.
    a) Run a Rating Scan.
    b) Open Logs and look at number of Good Files Detected
    c) This number will be less than the number of files detected by the Rating Scan
This question is crucial as well. The most valuable report is the one with precise, separate, numbered, reproduction steps.
    i) When I got to check out View Logs, it shows me Good Files detected in the Cloud of a total of 33 up to now.
ii) So I ran Rating Scan to help more programs to be checked and to be Trusted in the Cloud, However it is not doing that.
iii) However I have Provided 2 Screenshots to show you, on what I am seeing. etc
  7. What actually happened when you carried out these steps Nothing really, I am waiting for the Logs to catch up with the Trusted files.
  8. What you expected to see or happen when you carried out these steps, and why (if not obvious) I cannot really tell you. But I expect to see the same number of Good files, be the same as Trusted files.

Extra Information to help this bug report

  1. I think this has carried over from CIS 7.0.308911.4080 because I did notice it on last version.
  2. The Diagnostics report does show errors, So you can see all in CIS Report.

Please Find my Diagnostics report below, and my two screenshots.

In the post here it is shown that this used to work correctly for CIS 6.3.

Please edit your first post so that it is in the format provided here. Also, add a screenshot showing the relevant part of the logs (if it would help show this issue in any way).

Also, did the logs eventually catch up and show the correct number of trusted files?

Thanks.

Okay, did you check and make sure that you are showing the logs for all time, or is this just for a single day? If not please check again and make sure this isn’t where the confusion is coming from.

Thanks.

Hi Chiron,

They are the Logs of all time, However I did run a fresh Rating scan before I produced the Bug report and it has stayed the same as in 33 Good files.

I will run a fresh Rating scan now and see what I get. > New Capture 1 and 2 Recorded 4:10 pm

So now Good Files shows 38 instead of 33 like it was early before Bug Report.

Regards

Nigel

Is the “Good files detected” really supposed to be the same as trusted files during a rating scan? Perhaps it only shows good files detected using the real-time cloud scanner?

I’m not saying that is how it works, just a possible explanation.

My thinking about this is that it’s likely supposed to be a measure of the results of the automatic Defense+ lookup that happens just before an application starts to run. Therefore, it’s not representative of the Rating Scan results because that’s not what it’s meant for.

However, the HELP files is not entirely clear about this. For reference it can be found here. Is anyone entirely clear about whether that statistic is meant to include the results from a Rating Scan?

Thanks.

Well on 6.3 Trusted files matched up to Good Files. That is what I remember, but only happened after rating scan.

But on my last report. after running a fresh rating scan. Good files moved from 33 to 38. And Trusted files moved from 1048 to 1062 So I am still puzzled.

I have not restarted Laptop or done anything, apart from run a fresh Rating Scan.

Nige.

Well then I don’t know, I was probably wrong but I can chip in and say that I experience the same thing, after rating scan the “Good files detected” still said “0” (I had previously cleared the logs)

I’m not sure if this is expected behavior or not. However, I think it’s worth submitting to the devs. If it is expected behavior they should be able to let us know.

I have updated the first post, and changed the title of this bug to hopefully be more precise. Please look it over and let me know if it accurately reflects the issue you are experiencing. If it does let me know and I will forward this to the devs.

Thank you.

Thanks for Updated my Post.

What I am doing now, I have done a Re Install of Windows on my Main Machine, And I’m putting CIS 6.3.302093.2976 on it, then Run the same scans and see how it compares from Good files, to trusted files.

Then I will report my findings.

P.S. I had to do a fresh install of Windows 7 onto my Main Machine due to problems out side of any Comodo Products.

Okay. Let me know what you find from a completely fresh install. Until then I won’t forward it. I’ll wait to see if there is more information to add, and to better understand how it acts.

Thanks.

OK This is Very Interesting,

OK I installed CIS 6.3.302093.2976 and I set the same configuration and the same settings like I have for CIS 7.0.312140.4101

I Ran a Quick scan. - Please take a look at Capture 1.

This what shows for Good Files, just after a Quick scan - Please look at Capture 2
.
I Then Rebooted PC Like CIS told me too.

Now I Ran a Rating Scan, Please look at Capture 3 for info!

Now Please look at Capture 4 for the Final Results.

So what I did next was I onto my Laptop that has CIS 7.0.312140.4101

And I ran a Quick Scan. Then I looked at View Logs and it said 38 Good Files just like it did a couple of hours ago.

Therefore I ran a Rating scan and it said 1033 Trusted files so it has dropped since Today at 04:29:05 PM on one of my posts.

So at Today at 04:29:05 PM it said Trusted files moved from 1048 to 1062 ,but the new recording it says 1033.

So Therefore it is not right.

I hope this report helps

Thanks Nige.

So this shows that this is not expected behavior. Thus, a bug.

Thanks.

Agreed, this does seem like a bug.

Thank you very much for your report in standard format, with all information supplied. The care you have taken is much appreciated by Comodo, and will increase the likelihood that this bug can be fixed.

Developers may or may not communicate with you in the forum or by PM/IM, depending on time availability and need. Because you have supplied complete information they may be able to replicate and fix the bug without doing so.

Many thanks again.

Your Welcome.

It’s just like APR Spoofing on CIS 7.0.312140.4101 that has a bug since I’ve been hit 43 times, and not once since I put CIS 6.3.302093.2976, info shown here > https://forums.comodo.com/firewall-help-cis/cis-with-apr-set-under-firewall-t101890.0.html, < However I will monitor that on CIS 6.3, so I wish not to jump the gun:)

Please ignore the last part about APR Spoofing, it is happen in 6.3, but not as fast as it does in CIS 7.0.312140.4101, so I will leave it there

Okay.

As this was not fixed during the Beta testing period I will move this bug report to the main Bug Reporting Board.

Please check and see if this is fixed with the newest version (7.0.313494.4115)? Please let us know whether it is fixed or you are still experiencing the problem.

Thank you.

PM sent.

Nige_39 has informed me via PM that this is fixed for their main machine. I will therefore close this entry in the tracker and move this report to Resolved. Nige_39, if you find that this is not fixed for your laptop, or the problem returns, please reply to this report and send me a PM, with a link to the report.

Thank you.
