FW cannot be configured to permit port connection, even when off!

Despite setting port permissions in the interface, FW will not allow connections to game server port. Ports continue to be stealthed even after application is turned off. Simply doesn’t respond to configuration settings at all.

What, exactly, are you trying to configure?

For an application to be able to communicate it needs to be given appropriate access. To understand what that means, you have to know how the firewall works:

Application —> Application Rule —> Global Rule —> Access/No Access
Internet —> Global Rule —> Application Rule —> Access/No Access

If you have an application that requires certain ports and protocols to be available, you will need to ensure these are not being blocked at any stage:

As an example an application like uTorrent needs to be allowed to communicate on a given port and protocol. To facilitate this you will need both Application and Global rules.

Application Rule:

[Allow]
[TCP or UDP - IN]
[Source Add.- ANY]
[Dest Add - ANY]
[Source Port - ANY]
[Dest Port - uTorrent Port]

Global Rule:

[Allow]
[TCP or UDP - IN]
[Source Add.- ANY]
[Dest Add - ANY]
[Source Port - ANY]
[Dest Port - uTorrent Port]

If the Port or protocol is blocked it will not be able to communicate
