Full Scan stops at 27% + other issues

List o issues in order of occurance

  • CIS stopped loading into system tray
  • AV stopped working properly
  • No repair option given when attempted
  • Uninstall would not work
  • When I finally did get CIS uninstalled, reinstall required a reboot about every 5% and stopped at 99%
  • Finally managed to uninstall and remove components
  • Reinstall finally installed CIS
  • Full “My Computer” scan stops at 27% of my D: drive
  • Removed offending file, still stopped at 27%
  • Ran CHKDSK on D: which passed
  • Removed another offending file that caused a halt at 27% and tried a manual scan on the portion of D drive, which ran through just fine
  • Started another full scan of “My Computer” and the scan is again halting at 27% in the same area of the D: drive and has so far remained halted for the last 30 minutes(I’ve left it be for over an hour on previous attempts)

I can’t even close the scan or exit CIS when it halts, I’ve had to forcibly reset my computer to end the scan
I’m going to attempt the DEP fix before I decide if I want to stick with CIS or change to a different AV/F combo

[Edit] Several hours later, DEP fix didn’t work. Full Scan halted at 27% again and it was definitely a halt as the response time of other programs rose
Almost forgot. Finally managed to actually close the scan window by pausing it then stopping the scan. Was also able to close CIS as well, problem is cmdagent.exe won’t close, cfp.exe won’t close and attempts to restart CIS result in additional cfp.exe’s showing in TaskManager

[Edit2] It finally cooperated after I opted to let it run while I slept

Similar issue with re-install of Comodo Internet Security Pro 2012 - v5.10.228257.2253

Went through multiple re-boots as it was installing moving slowly up through each successive reboots to 95%-- after a half dozen reboots gave up - said no to reboot.

Of course now cmdagent.exe does not run - or show as a service…

Bummer - all else seems to work (firewall).

What /why does the install move through this painfull process (the above reboots to get to 95% took over 4 hours) -win 7, 64x home premium - no other AV /firewall running…

Frustrated

David

Hi DRSmithPMP,
If cmdagent is not running, you will not be protected.

In task manager, you have to Show processes from all users to see cmdagent.
Alternative, check windows services for COMODO Internet Security Helper Service.

Before trying to re-install after failed install try running this unofficial Uninstaller Tool for Comodo Products.

When using the uninstaller tool please apply it in Safe Mode. Then none of CIS drivers or services will be running and can the tool be successful.

Please also make sure that there are no left overs of previously uninstalled security programs around. Not all uninstallers do a proper job. And left over applications, drivers or services can cause all sort of “interesting effects”.

Try using removal tools for those programs to remove them. Here is a list of removal tools for common av programs: ESET Knowledgebase .

Keep us posted on how things go.
