That’s BS. Avast and Avira both come with Web Protection.

I suspect he meant that the webshields were off but all other settings as standard ???

Hi Polar Regions.I agree to a point Avast and Avira do come with extra protection, but then so does Comodo and others ie defence plus hips, sandbox ect. If the test had been done with say everything enabled on every app at higher settings then i reckon most if not all would have scored higher.Narens point here was to test the av part only…and see how it compares. Remember detection is only part of the whole, prevention is what really matters… if it cant get you infected then it dont need to be detected.

Just to be clear, was this a protection test or a detection test?

I wanted to test only RealTime Protection i.e signatures, heuristics & behaviour. I excluded WebProtection & tested RealTime with defaults. Excluded Comodo AutoSandbox & Avast AutoSandbox. It was just signatures, heuristics & behaviour protection test.

Avast AutoSandbox reacted for 2 threats. Comodo AutoSandbox sandboxed & gave few D+ Alerts for the rest.

First right click scan & remaining malware were executed & tested.

Tested with 7 64 Bits & latest VMWare.

UnThreat & Forticlient were impressive. Forticlient has improved a lot.

I think you should change the title to “RealTime Detection Test”.

I think that best represents the methodology of this test.
