folder name changed after importing html bookmarks

Strange how the name of the folder changed after exporting then importing my bookmarks from the installed Dragon to the portable Dragon. One of my folders had a certain name, and that folder has changed to “Imported” instead of what it was called in the installed version.

EDIT: In fact, the expected folder is included as a subfolder now inside of “Imported”.

Hi string_game,
This is by design, to assist in finding the imported bookmarks to sort and compare with the existing.
I find this handy to keep the bookmarks up to date with your current browser, after re-importing it makes it easier to find the previous bookmarks.
Note: You will find if you import on a clean slate (No existing bookmarks), that this will not happen.
The imported folder only creates if bookmarks already exist.

captainsticks,

I know that this:

Note: You will find if you import on a clean slate (No existing bookmarks), that this will not happen.
The imported folder only creates if bookmarks already exist.

Is not true, because my portable copy had no bookmarks before importing, but only my installed hard disc copy had bookmarks. When I did the importing, to the portable version, THAT is where a folder of bookmarks became subfolder within “Import” folder, along with some other bookmarks ALSO from the import. Again, the portable version had no bookmarks in it before performing the import.

The explanation you gave must fit certain systems or arrangements but not others.

I plan to try to drag the subfolder out from the “Import” folder to see if this is possible (even if not necessary), maybe to be just a folder directly in the bookmarks toolbar.

Hi string_game,
Drag’n’drop, rename all should be possible.

Sorry for my error about the import folder not creating when importing clean, you are correct it does in some situations.

All of my bookmarks are stored in personal folders on the bookmarks bar.
If importing from the bookmarks bar only, it does not create the imports folder on a clean slate.
If any imported bookmarks or folders are from the hard coded other bookmarks folder it will create the imports folder to store these.
Kind regards.

Edit: Re-worded for clarity.

In fact you are correct, or probably correct - still seems a little confusing-
I took another look at the bookmarks and paths. The “other bookmarks” from the installed version seems to become renamed as “Imported” in the portable version.

Also as you say, that is a good arrangement so that the user is reminded those in the folder were imported from another CD or whichever browser.
