If you have just a modem, you may need to add a rule (above the last block all) to allow outgoing DNS requests such as:
Action = Allow
Protocol = UDP
Direction = Out
Description = Allow Outgoing DNS
Source Address = Any
Destination Address = Any (or your ISP’s DNS server for extra security)
Source port = Any
Destination port = 53
Amount of DNS-servers won’t matter, as long as you add a rule for each.
OK thanks.
Both my rules and Padnlouk’s should work just fine.
So it is Pandlouk’s rules at post #1 and your rules at post #2? Or is it another post, because I remember you changed something? Like post #45 ?
And what is MAC/IP? Gottit IP=ip adres
By the way I got probs with Pandlouk’s rules. The HTTP rule with port 80. I have a tracker who uses 81. It took a while to find out why I couldn’t connect. Now I am using your rules, everything works fine until my ISP will change my IP adres. We’ll see…
Q-?-Can someone please look at my setting here on this reply# ?? #156-159
I need to know if is ok with this setup? I notice that D/L is good, but my U/L is zero :(.
I also would like to use my pvt port(utorrent) as my in and out.
I made the rules for utorrent using this tutorial and utorrent was working fine, but if i block all incoming connections using the stealth port wizard then my utorrent incoming port is also blocked, if i choose " Alert me to incoming connections" in the stealth port wizard then utorrent works fine.
Shouldnt utorrent also work with the " Block all incoming connections " setting in the stealth port wizard because there is already a rule to allow incoming connections to the utorrent listening port?
If you want to block incoming connections, but still want uTorrent to work, add a global rule to block incoming IP UNDER the rule that allows uTorrent.
NOTE: Before you do this, make sure you don’t need to accept incoming connections!
I’m new here, and I’m sure this is a noob question, but after reading through the entire topic I still don’t get why you would need to set a global rule to allow connections to uTorrent’s port as suggested in your instructions on page1. I deleted it and I’m still in the green
Did I miss something and am now exposed to the nasty world outside ???
Anyway, could you explain it to me, please?
P.S.: In global rules I only have the “block ICMP in from any IP to any…” as is default in Comodo, perhaps there is a global rule I’m missing?
I know now why some tracker(s) gives problems with Pandlouk’s rules.
Know this by looking at the sygate traffic log.
Your rule:
Action = Allow
Protocol = TCP
Direction = Out
Description = Rule for outgoing TCP connections
Source Address = Any
Destination Address = Any
Source port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535) Destination port = A port range = (start port = 1025 / end port = 65535)
e.g There is a tracker who needs to be connected on TCP port 81
If you have ports 1024-65535 as range the tracker cannot connect and therefore you get a time out message in utorrent.
Hey Yoda this how i got uTorrent working like a charm. I completely uninstalled Comodo and cleaned out all registry entires. Rebooted a couple of times and fired up uTorrent and still no green check mark. I clicked on the link in uTorrent to port forward 1641 in my 2Wire Gateway DSL modem. UTorrent still wasn’t green. I then reboot my mdem and machine then presto. uTorrent was green. Comodo wasn’t at fault. I then installed Comodo and all is well.
My ISP blocks seeding… I need to use a proxy to send requests with utorrent… how do I configure the firewall to allow this… Please let me know… I’m terrible with firewalls… also I have another question…How come I have to manually create rules for utorrent… I added it as a trusted application and my tracker reported that I was unconnectable… the utorrents port checker also failed… Now that I’ve added custom rules everything seems to be O.K… Any replies to my post would be greatly appreciated.
Edit…
Yet another question of mine…
I just try to export my settings and it tells me error make sure you have enough rights for the path… I tried to export it to my the root of my storage drive and also my desktop. I am running windows vista… What could be wrong?
One last question… After I disconnect from a torrent comodo still shows plenty of inbound connections… They are there even if I reboot my pc and am no longer connected to the torrent… Why is this?
Thank you for the tutorial! I put in the rules listed on the first page.
UTorrent is now working for me.
My normal DL speed maxes out at about 90-100 kps, now I am getting about 10-20 kps on utorrent. Is this normal? Or do I need to change some more settings?
i’ve followed your advice. But there are few things that not so clear for me.
Can you please answer these questions?
First, from rule 4, why the destination port is 80?
Can it be applied for limewire too?
Second, although i’ve signed out from utorrent, the traffic display always shows that process of utorrent is still running in my computer.
e.g, sometimes it showed 80% or even 100%.
Is it ok or not?
Hi
i have to use the stealth mode number 3 , block all incoming connection
without this mode i did not pass some firewall tests , i have a mode without firewall built in >:(
but in this stealth mode the number 3 , i can’t use utorrent
well i can use but is bloody slow , for example i tried to download Ubuntu.iso with the setup of the comodo install i can download [ at ] 4mb at second
with the 3 kind of stealth mode , i can download [ at ] 12k at second :-* :-* :-* :-* because the global rules block utorrent
Coincidentally a few days ago I downloaded Xubuntu ISO ~580MB and sure I using uTorrent. It took 14min.
You can calculate - it wasn’t 12k ???, right?
Can you please clarify a few things highlighted in the quote. “with setup of Comodo instal”… What does it mean? Comodo will not Setup any torrent client except common default rule as for any other Application.
And Comodo’s Global Rules will Stop blocking uTorrent as soon as you move Global uTorrent rule above Comodo’s Main (red) Block IN Rule.
Probably I misunderstood what you were saying. If so, please excuse my English
I applied the Pandlouk rules as in page 1 but I noticed in the firewall events log that all the connections with UDP protocol are blocked.
This happens if:
The source IP is my IP address with destination IP 239.192.152.143 and source and destination ports 6771 in most of the cases.
The source IP is my IP address with destination IP my router and source and destination ports 5351 in some cases.
The source IP is X IP address with with various destination IPs and source port 80 or 81 or 89 or 911 or 926 and destination port my uTorrent port
The source IP is X IP address with various destination IPs and source port 500 or 666 or 53 and destination port my uTorrent port
I guess something is wrong or does not comply with the Pandlouk rules? (:SAD)
