Firewall Alert default

Hi,

I would like to suggest that the pre-selected standard settings of the “Firewall Alert” popup should always be “Block this request” with “Remember my answer” unticked. Right now CIS remembers the settings of the most recent popup as the pre-selection, which in my opinion doesn’t make much sense.

This would help to avoid accidental rule creations and would be the safest alternative. If I intend to allow access or even create a rule, this should be a very conscious decision in my opinion.

Also, this would increase the safety of all those not-too-tech-savy (or mindless) users who just click “ok” on everything that appears on their screen.

Another suggestion relates to the Parental Control / Password Protection:

It would be more convenient if the password only was asked for when there is the possibility to actually change some setting. Right now, you even have to enter the password when you just click on “View Firewall Events” for example.

Thanks in advance for consideration!

PS: I guess a good solution would be to only ask for the password when you click “Apply” in a dialog.

The problem with not asking for password (with respect to ‘View Firewall Events’ is that window (as with all View Events window) allows the user to access the complete events viewer. This viewer has then options to delete any and all events displayed. I would not want any user other than myself to have access to this. Also, any other user should not require the viewers anyhow.

Ok - thanks - I understand.

Just for my information - how long is an entered password stored? Until one closes the main GUI?

Yes. This is a nice feature, since you only have to enter the password once per GUI session.
