Firefox: tcp ports 49286 & 49288?

CIS’ Active connection window shows that Firefox is constantly listening on tcp ports 49286 & 49288.
Does anyone know what these are?

Google couldn’t find anything on mozilla.org which mentioned them.

I’m running CIS v5.3.175888.1227, av 7399 under Win7 Pro x64 with Firefox v3.6.13.

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

Do you have any extensions installed/enabled in firefox?
and Added Add-ons/plug ins?

Jake

Jake,

Good point.

I have
BetterPrivacy (deletes Flash cookies)
DownloadHelper (captures video files)
Java Console
NoScript (blocks Web site script execution)
Remove Cookies for Site
View Cookies
WebOfTrust (displays Web site reputations)
and.
LogMeIn (remote desktop accelerator)

LogMeIn claims to use ports 443 and 80, so I don’t think it’s that one.

I guess I’ll have to try deleting them one at a time to find the culprit. sigh

Just for more knowledge;
Is it listening while on about:config ?

Jake

Jake,

Yes, it continues to listen on two ports while about:config is being shown.
Also, I’ve disabled all of the Addons and Plugins and firefox is still listening on two ports.

However, I’ve discovered that the two ports that it listens on change every time I restart firefox.
Maybe it uses them to talk to itself? e.g. for restart parameters, perhaps?

Most Likely;

I’d have firefox answer that question;
I never seen this activity before;

Sorry that i couldn’t be any of assistance!

:slight_smile:

Regards
Jake

It’s in the design of firefox.
