Firefox Connections[RESOLVED]

I have a ton of firefox connections that show up in the connections tab. They all have my ip as the source but they’re from all sorts of different ports and some go to the same destination but on different ports. The ports range from 1200 to 3300. Is it normal to have all these sorts of connections? I’ve never noticed this many before.

Hi, this is normal. I have had this even in older versions of CFP. Example, Firefox browser wants to connect, FF updater, then you get a new version of FF, this wants to connect, then the updater for that, Firefox setup wants access, then from the update, another ff setup wants acces…it goes on. Here is my list…

FF.exe setup
FF.exe setup
FF.exe setup
FF.exe setup
FF.exe updater
FF.exe updater
FF.exe tmp…7z…when downloading update file
FF.exe tmp…7z…when downloading update file
FF.exe explorer
FF.exe explorer

You can clear these by clicking remove and the current ones will pop back up. After I close this, I will come back and edit this post and see which try to communicate and see what’ s left in my list.

EDIT: after restarting FF, I only have two. explorer.exe’s and that’s all. Now, if it looks for updates, that will be another and if you update, we start all over again.

Here is an interresting site…

Hey, thanks for the reply. I’m not talking about a handful of connections though I’m talking like dozens and dozens, and they don’t go away after I close the browser. Is this still normal? It’s just freaking me out because I’ve never seen this many before.

Hi, mine don’t go away either, until I remove them from the list. When you restart firefox, you’ll get a few that need to have access. If you click on them, at the bottom will give you a view of what it may be for. Try this, Close firefox, remove each one and then when done, restart firefox and see what you get.

Also, if you are allowing but not checking the box to always allow, you will keep getting them and they will build up.

Just to be sure, can you first save an html log , if it won’t and it goes to notepad, simply choose to open with firefox from programs list, and simply hold onto it. Then do the above with getting rid of them, and then after a few jaunts around the web, export another html log and post that with the old one for comparison. Now make sure you name the second one, second or something so it won’t overwrite the first.

Thanks for your help Shifter, I think I’ve got it worked out. I think what you said about not checking the box for always allowing was the reason. After that, they’ve started going away once I closed the browser and what not. Much much better now. Thanks again!!!

Not a problem! You are very welcome.

I will mark this as RESOLVED and lock so this may help someone else.
