FEEDBACK: Register with Windows 10 Security and Maintenance

I’m a little surprised a product of this quality doesn’t register the firewall component in the OS “Security and Maintenance” and therefore allows the Windows Firewall to run side by side.

Running the “netsh advfirewall show global” command shows:
Categories:
BootTimeRuleCategory Windows Firewall
FirewallRuleCategory Windows Firewall
StealthRuleCategory Windows Firewall
ConSecRuleCategory Windows Firewall - Can’t do anything about this one, MS won’t allow it

Do you ever plan to changes this ?

I noticed that in my Windows 10, that Windows Defender Security Center thingy says that my Firewalls are turned off even though CF is on, however in the old control panel with Security and Maintenance it says Comodo Firewall is turned on.

windows firewall should be fine to run side by side as long as there are no overlapping rules. I personally have it disabled via control panel, note that the Windows Firewall Service continues to run even if it’s disabled through control panel. (do not disable the Windows Firewall service by group policy or services.msc because apparently Windows components are interdependent on it and it may cause problems with certain tasks, such as with Windows Update.

By requirement from MicroSoft, no security application is permitted to disable/turn off Windows Firewall any longer.
So please stop complaining about Windows Firewall remaining enabled after installing CIS.

@John I’m assuming you mean the Windows Firewall service? Because that service is also used by other windows applications in windows 10, it is more than just a firewall service. I have installed 3rd party security software with a firewall on the latest creator’s update and they disabled the windows firewall for public and private networks, but that Windows Firewall service should still remain running (did not check, but it is critical that it remains enabled so I’m assuming that it does), as disabling it can potentially cause problems with the system due to interconnected components.

Not the service, the firewall itself.
The service must be kept running, even if you disable Windows Firewall.

I’m not sure how you can come to the conclusion that CIS is not registered in control panel security and maintenance just because a netsh command does not list it. If you actually try to disable the firewall while the windows firewall is turned off, you will get a warning from windows reporting that comodo firewall is turned off. Or even view installed firewall programs in security and maintenance control panel, you would see comodo firewall listed.

I’m a little surprised you’re misinformed. Registering with the security center doesn’t mean that Windows Firewall gets automatically switched off. The CIS installer often forgets to switch it off; in that case the security center will show both firewall running.

A problem with registering can sometimes be mitigated by resetting the security center. When it persists we’re looking at a bug.

A format verified bug report gives the guarantee your bug will be seen by Comodo.

As stated above, Windows 10 Firewall will not be turned off by CIS, nor should it by any security program. This is a requirement of MicroSoft, not a bug in CIS. You need to manually turn Windows Firewall off.

john is right. Cant find the link where microsoft explained it but its a fact. no security software can turn windows 10 firewall off. even if you try to turn the processes off, when rebooting (can take more than one reboot) they will be turned on again). the only thing that will remain off is the notifications for networked places and traffic from local firewall (the microsoft one).

in here i just disabled defender, firewall, tweaked a little bit the smart thing and voila!!! all great now!!!

with ccleaner i removed the microsoft security icon from tray and thats all good!!!
