:-\ I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when running Privacy cleaner to delete traces of internet activity; it wiped out every one of the favorites (Vista Home Premium; IE 7). I have some file redundancy across different computers. My husband, however, is going to strangle me. System Restore did not work. Any guidance appreciated. Better descriptions/precautions built into program use would also be helpful.
Thanks much.
Christine
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Very sorry for the trouble, this has been reported by others as well. I’m not aware of any solution to recover lost favourites.
Thanks for the reply, Leoni. I manually rebuilt what I could (still might be sleeping in the garage…).
Have a great day.
Chris
Thanks for confirming. The developers should know about this issue, I don’t know if it’s fixed in the latest beta version but at least I raised the question here.
You have a nice day too.
To Restore Files/Favorites Use A File Restore Program e.g. PCInspector (http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language=1)
Jacob,
I too have fallen fowl of this bug, not great at all and as I’m using Vista 64 bit it’s not easy to recover them, If anyone has any idea’s I’d be pleased to know Thanks.
Another very good recovery utility is Recuva - www.recuva.com.
A hint for future reference - “Favourites” is really a simple folder with a link of shortcuts. This folder can be incorporated into your backups (You do do backups, don’t you? ;)). This way you could recover them back to the date of your last backup.
Hope this helps,
Ewen
