False Positives - WinRAR and a silly mapping tool

I just upgraded to CIS Pro 2012 with the special offer.

Comodo required that I do a full system scan, which I did (and which the non-pro version has done at least once a week for several years now). It then identified four or five programs as containing malware. In my efforts to get one of them restored because I need it, I have cleaned the list out, so now I can’t list all of them and what was (allegedly) detected.

One I remember for certain was the WinRAR install program. Another was a small mapping program for a game I play. That’s the one that I need, and the fact that now I can’t use it at all is rather aggravating. To the point that I’m considering uninstalling CIS just so I can use it again. Although, the permissions have been changed seemingly, so I might need to reinstall windows. >:(

Obviously, that would be taking this to a disproportionate extreme.

All the files that were flagged have been submitted. Is there any way that I can release my programs so I can use them again?

How to report False Positives - Please read this before submitting !.

What I would do is temporarily disable the AV. Then you can release these programs from the quarantine. Then you can follow the methods discussed in the link above.

After reporting them you can them enable your AV, after going to Antivirus => Real Time Scanning. And deselecting the option to “Do not show antivirus alerts”. This way the next time they are detected you will be given the option to add them to the exclusions list.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks.
