Injecting a malicious code into explorer.exe in NOT impossible. In fact, it's fairly popular because you can't delete explorer.exe (it will need to be cured)

Some years ago someone had an infected jump-drive and plugged it into my computer and next thing I know explorer.exe got infected and the only thing I could do was to reformat.

You can always disable "autoplay" for USB drives :)

When I realized what happened, I attempted a system restore which just hung.
Ever since, I have been unable to boot past post.
Anyone experienced anything similar? Thanks for any feedback.
