Excel 2010 Beta - Buffer Overflow Attack ?

Hello!

I have the German Office 2010 Beta installed.
Whenever I click on the tab Seitenlayout (Page Layout) I get the warning that Excel tried to execute shellcode as a result of a possible buffer overflow attack.
I not sure if this is a bug in CIS or what I think in Excel, that’s why I post this here.

Anyone else getting this?

I have the english Microsoft Office 2010 Beta installed, and will see if it pops up anything when I use it later, to be honest not had the need to use excel. But will do in order to see what is going on…

Confirmed with Excel 2010 beta (English).

This is an error in Excel. Submit it to Miscrosoft; I am serious here. CIS found a buffer overflow problem with Excel. BO’s can get exploited by malware but are basically bugs in programs. I downloaded the installer from Microsoft so I am 99,99999% it is free of malware; hence it is a bug in Excel.

I once read a post here at the forums from a person who is programming for a living. His company used the Comodo BO tester to test their software…

No problems here with Excel 2010 Beta

What OS are you on? Using Win 7 32 bits.

I’m on Win 7 32 Bit.
The message only appears after the second time I click on Page Layout.
I just checked and it also does happen in Excel 2007 which I have installed parallel.
In Word 2007 nor 2010 I don’t experience this problem.

It’s a bug in Excel. Microsoft should fix it. I hope somebody did report this.

I frowned and gave SS as well as comment… hope that helps.

Thank you guys for the replies!

What do you mean with SS?

BTW: Where can I file bug reports regarding Office 2010?

Sorry :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks and good night.

That’s weird…the problem disappeared for me.
Not sure why. One thing I did was to reinstall CIS completely.
