This is on Solus OS 1.3. Solus OS is based on Debian Stable. For more info, see

There needs to be a warning that hdparm(1) needs to be installed; it does not, apparently, come installed with this distro by default, but it is in the repos for Solus OS and installed easily.

However, there is no “functions” shell module to haul in; it looks like this distro uses a different init configuration.
