error - pagefile.sys used by another application, restore can't proceed, code 64

Hi
I received the above error trying to restore from an external hard drive to a new Windows 7 installation (x64, Home premium).
Does anyone have any idea how I can resolve this - I can’t find any other instances of it on the forum.
