Enabling cookies and not clearing the cache

Hey,
Second time I’ve posted for help on this. I’ve searched and found a post about enabling cookies, but it did not really address the issue.

I am using Firefox 3.0.4 on XP Pro Service Pack 3. I have cookies enabled and keep until they expire. I do delete certain cookies manual at least weekly, but I want to keep some for sites that I log onto like my.yahoo so I don’t have to sign in every time I open the browser. I have my.yahoo set as my start page in Firefox.

After I installed CIS it clears cookies and the cache when I close Firefox.

How can I fix this, and is there any place that I can manage cookies in CIS?

As far as I know, CIS has nothing to do with cookies or anything of that sort. Never heard of anyone else having this problem after installing CFP/CIS

Did you check your FF settings?
Tools > Options > Privacy > Private Data

I think you may have unticked ‘keep my history for atleast ___ days’ in FF and yes, ‘Accept cookies from sites’ in the window told by Fazio. Enable it and you will have the cookies. Also check whether ‘Always clear my private data when I close FireFox’ is ticked.

If you want to keep some cookies and at the same time remove others, you can try ‘Ccleaner’ wherein you can give exceptions in ‘Options’ window. So cookies in the exceptions will be retained whereas all others will be removed.

You can also the following (I do this in Opera browser):
Enable cookies and surf to all sites you want to keep cookies from.
If there is a cookie manager in FF delete all the cookies you don’t need from sites you don’t need like cookies from ad and tracking servers.
Enable delete new cookies on exit.

In Firefox you can check cookies by clicking ‘show Cookies’ in Privacy tab. But, to check it on intermittent days is cumbersome and to delete each manually may not be preferred by normal users. Using software like Ccleaner, while retaining 2-3 cookies by keeping it in exceptions would be much better, as it is a ‘single click affair’.
