You can move the rules up and down in the list in network monitor, with the buttons “move up” and “move down”.
If you follow my instruction, you don’t have to move it.
As I write, the log is seen in activity/logs. You can right click in the rules and export as html. Then you can add them here in you post.
Have you made a rule in application monitor for emule? Go to security/tasks and “add a new trusted application”. Browse to emule.exe
Remember to reboot your PC it the rules doesn’t seem to work.
Your port 54321 is still blocked in network monitor…
You have to move the rule UP in the list. If you have a block rule above it will get blocked. Click on the rule and then click on the button “move up” several times. You can move it to the top if you want (ID 0).
Does Emule use different ports for TCP and UDP?
In that case you have to make two rules, one for TCP and one for UDP.
Your rules look ok… It should work… ???
Hmm…
I don’t personally use that program, but if you look at the log, we can try a couple of things.
First you can go to security/advanced/advanced attack detection and prevention/misc and uncheck “do protocol analysis”
Then you can try to make two rules for ICMP.
Action : Allow Protocol : ICMP Direction : In Source IP : Any Destination IP : Zone ICMP Details : Port Unreachable
Action : Allow Protocol : ICMP Direction : Out Source IP : Zone Destination IP : Any ICMP Details : Port Unreachable
When you tell me that the port 54321 it’s a good port, I change in the emule configuration and write 54321, but in my router, I don’t change the old ports :-\ :-\ :-.
Sorry very very very much for my stupidity. Now all it’s OK (:CLP).
My current settings for utorrent are all in the green. :BNC
(windows adsl router fixed ip)
In utorrent
disabled upnp
disabled random port
use port 12345 (just an example)
Network monitor
id 0
permission >allow
protocol tcp/udp in/out
source > any
destination > any
where source port is (any)and destination port is (12345)
application monitor utorrent
destination >any
port >any
tcp/udp >in/out
permission >allow
It’s all green, no nat problems.
However are these settings as safe as it’s gonna get?
Can I narrow down the permissions?
I mean my 12345 port (just an example) is wide open for just about anyone.
You can set your network monitor rule to just IN. You don’t need the Out. because you already have a general out rule by default.
If you have a router, you should have a trusted zone, so you can set destination to zone or your IP if it’s static.
In the application rule, you can split it to two rules. The in rule can have dest. port as “12345”.
The out rule can be set to any
Yes it’s safe. The port is not constantly open. Even if it’s a IN rule, you have to start it yourself (when you run uTorrent), so it’s closed/stealth when you don’t use it.
Hello, I just switched from ZoneAlarm to Comodo and have a little problem: my eMule can’t upload anymore, but seems to download normally.
I followed this tuttorial, restarted my PC and read the posts in this whole thread, without success. I then uninstaled Comodo (to be sure it was the cause) and problem was solved. Any suggestions? I really wanted to keep using Comodo… :-[
I’ve been having similar low id eMule problems using CPF - silly question but do I need to open specific ports on my router for eMule?
I have a new Speedtouch 780WL so would be eternally grateful if anyone can advise as up to now all I have done is turned off UPnP (not sure if this makes any difference). The router firewall is turned off by default so left it at this setting while I try set up eMule. I know there are settings for eMule in the “game and applicaton” section but currently I have not activated this because the router firewall is set to off.
If you have the firewall on, you have to forward the same port as you have in Emule and Comodo firewall. I think http://www.portforward.com have guides for most routers out there. Otherwise look at a similar one.
Are you sure that you have put the network monitor rule for Emule above the block rule?
Do you have the same port number in Emule?
Have you rebooted?
What does your log in the firewall say?

For using the search in Kad you must disable the feature "Do protocol analysis" Wink
IMPORTANT
you will have to disable the UPnP option from the program you use if you want this guide to work properly. If you don’t disable it you will have NAT problems. Wink
Just disabled protocol analysis (it’s inside CPF right?) but this UPnP thing… is there such option inside eMule (or CPF)? Sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m somewhat new to these matters.
Hoorah - I added eMule in the ‘game and applications’ setting on my router (which I believe does the same thing as port forwarding) and now get a high id.
