email cert is not trusted by recieving party

I’ve got comodo certificates for two of my email addresses.

computer is os x 10.9.3

installed the certificates in Chrome which automatically inserts them in the Keychain.

Apple Mail shows the certificates as valid and trusted.

But whenever I email someone - even myself - the message comes through as not trusted.

There was an errant older certificate that was getting sent. The older certificate had been revoked, but not removed from the keychain.

All is good now.
