Comodo is really the best firewall I have used. However, I would like to suggest a feature that was available in my old firewall that was very useful at least for me.
Why don’t you add a button (named ‘Custom’ for example) to firewall alerts, so that users can press it to see the rule that Comodo would create if we had chosen “accept”. Moreover, users would be able to modify the rule in this window according to their needs.
Sometimes the rules automatically created by Comodo when we press “accept” are too generic: “permit ip any to any”, “deny ip any to any” or “permit tcp any to any”. For some applications, I would like to restrict a rule to a specific port. I know that it can be manually done after the rules is created, but when you have thousands of rules it’s a pain to have to go to the configuration window and find that rule that was just created to be able to modify it. Also, if you don’t do this change just after you press “accept”, you may forget to modify it.
Begginers may not like an additional button in the alerts, so this feature could be enabled somewhere for intermediate and advanced users.
Thought about it through the last week building ruleset for home LAN and some new software.
“Custom” button; “Accept” button adding a rule for the exact connection (protocol:host:port), not another “any to any” one - whatever, it would be an extremely useful feature…
I used Kerio/Tiny like ibydos and this is the feature I miss most of the time.
Please add it to the next version, it will be a huge improvement in user friendliness.
The end points of this connection should be set in the modification dialog, so the user can change them to match more connections. This is better and quicker than have no ip/ports filled in and to have to type them in manually if a more specific rule is desired.
