Does Comodo PF start when pc boots?

I have Comodo PF 2.4.17. 183, almost everyday when I start my pc, the Windows Security Centre shows a pop-up that says “Comodo Personal Firewall Pro is off”, then after a few seconds this goes off. Am I protected from the moment I press the button to turn the pc on until Windows completely starts?

I have uninstalled Comodo Personal Firewall and my antivirus (Antivir v7.0). Ran CCleaner after uninstalling, then installed Comodo first. Rebooted twice. Installed the antivirus. Rebooted. This ‘Comodo is off’ message continues.

I am running Windows XP Home SP2, AVG Antispyware Free, SuperAntispyware v3.5 (real-time monitoring), Spybot S&D and AOL Active Virus Shield. (uninstalled Antivir because I thought it was the cause of the problem, it seems as if it is not.)

Thanks for your time.

G’day,

You’re covered. CFP has a kernel level driver (cmdmon.sys) that is loaded before you even see the desktop. The notifications you see from the Windows Security Centre are a result of the repository being checked before the CFP executable (the GUI) is loaded or has completed loading.

Hope this helps,

It’s irritating me a bit. I will have to learn to live with it then. Thanks. (:KWL)

Do you really need the Windows Security Center ? I have mine disabled … Administrative Tools>Services> Security Center. Of course you need to ensure all your security is loaded before taking on the net (AV, Firewall etc.).

10Rand ? not worth much these days if from ZA like me. ;D

Not really.

True!

Will be keeping Comodo, it’s one of the few good firewalls around. At least Matousec thinks so. I do not know much about firewalls though. I am not that computer savvy, I just want to install a firewall and let it go to work without me having to tinker much with it. This one seems to be like that. (Simple and effective)

Thanks. (R)
