I’m aware that the Comodo File Rating system is for the protection of my PC and it’s actually a brilliant feature but it becomes really annoying as I frequently develop small programs in Visual Studio and download quite a few off the web as well and each time I try to run them, they are blocked because they’re unrecognised. Sure, I can add folders as exceptions but that’s not exactly what I want. I simply want to disable that component as it’s too annoying and it’s not worth it for me. There doesn’t seem to be an option for that in the settings so perhaps that could be in a newer revision? or is there a way to manually disable it?
I’d like to add that it added programs like Catalyst Control Center, Classic Shell and 8Gadgets to the unrecognised list which is clearly inconvenient as it doesn’t even notify me of this.
Thanks for the reply, I’ve already unchecked “enable cloud lookup” and “Analyse unknown files in the cloud by uploading them for instant analysis” but it still occurs. It blocked “X-Mouse Button Control” which was already installed, “TheMatrixTrilogy055.exe” which is a screensaver I was attempting to install and even the screensaver itself after I installed it. Not every application which runs on my computer will be from a major software developer which is signed and ‘trusted’ and I don’t want to see a message box with this: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. you may not have appropriate permissions to access the item.” every time I try to run a program which isn’t in Comodo’s database.
And now there’s the files which Comodo absolutely refuses to allow even when I’ve tried adding them to ‘trusted files’ several times: 3DMark Vantage by FutureMark, dseo13b.exe so I can run RivaTuner.
Please help me with this issue, it becomes more annoying by the minute. It’s stopping even the installers by InstallShield and AMD. I am seriously on the verge of removing this from my computer.
AV is set to stateful, HIPS is disabled, auto-sandbox is only for blocked applications, and firewall is on a custom ruleset. The “Do NOT show pop ups alerts” box is unticked so it should show me alerts and notifications.
I'd like to add that it added programs like Catalyst Control Center, Classic Shell and 8Gadgets to the unrecognised list which is clearly inconvenient as it doesn't even notify me of this.
A white list is a signature based creature so it may miss stuff. It is possible to submit executable in Submit Applications Here To Be Whitelisted - 2013.
Although, I do sometimes run programs in Visual Studio for debugging, I also use them without VS. Adding each one of them to the ruleset will be a bit of a pain but I’ll do that as that seems to be the only way. I do hope in future versions that there will be more flexibility with the File Rating system.
