Difficult Decision

My CFW keeps nagging me to make a decision on sychost.exe. However, I have seen some websites which say sychost.exe is a virus such as these:

                                       and

Whilst previously on this forum it seems that sychost.exe is safe:

Usually malware trick users using names similiar to legitimate applications or services.

sychost.exe name is similiar to svchost.exe. I suggest you to track it down using Defense+ Tasks > Common Tasks - View Active Process List after you right-clicked on that window and selected Show the full path.

You can then terminate sychost.exe by right clicking it (without choosing to block/quarantine it yet).

Once you located that file you can use an online multiscan engine like

to check if it’s is a known malware.

You can send it to http://camas.comodo.com/cgi-bin/submit to check what it does.
You can also submit it to Comodo following the steps outlined in Reporting False Positives/Suspicious Files & Submitting them to the lab

Then you should consider to do a full system scan to track other malwares and possibly open another topic in Virus/Malware Removal Assistance

svchost.exe is usually a safe windows app. using sigverif it is possible to check if there are unsigned executable/drivers in your windows system folders and thus it will be possible if there is an unsigned svchost.exe (this usually means that the file don’t have a MS signature and could be a bogus file). Sigverif will also list unsigned drivers (usually this doesn’t mean the drive is malicious)

I’m sorry; but that should be svchost.exe not sychost.exe.

What should I do now?
