Difference between 32 and 64 bit version?

Hello,

first of all I’m currently running w7 x64 bit.

My question is, are there any differences between those two versions? Is the 32 bit version stronger? offers it more protection compared to 64 bit version or are they equal?

The 32 bits is stronger. However the upcoming 5.8, currently in beta, brings a 64 bits version almost as strong the 32 bits version.

Why are you interested?

Because I’m using a security software and want the maximum protection.

So does it make more sense atm to use 32 bit on 64 bit systems until a new version will be released?

You can’t use the 32 bits version on 64 bits. You could consider to try the 5.8 beta on x64 your 64 bits OS. It is pretty stable if I may believe this user:

Well, I can’t find 64 bit versions on the page.

http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/ → there is only comodo firewall 64 bit available. I don’t find CIS with AV for 64 bit there.

If you look here: Free Firewall | Best Comodo Firewall Software Download 2022 there are also no 64 bit versions available, only 32 bit. I’m kinda confused

The pages are confusing as the system requirements do not reflect that it will also cover 64 bits versions. However, there is a drop down menu in both pages where you can choose to download the 32 bits, 64 bits or combined installers.

There is only 32 bit. Maybe I’m just blind, but where is the drop down menu?

If you go to the other page: http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/ you can chose but you will only download Comodo firewall. If you chose CIS, it WILL redirects you to the firewall only.

Edit: Sorry, late. So can I just download the “32” bit version? Will Comodo automatically download 64 bit even if there is only 32 bit given? That sounds weird

The new beta CIS (which has a stronger 64bit arch) is only available from this forum.

As for the installers from the website, they detect whether your system is 32 or 64bit.

The mentioned page only delivers the installer for the Firewall. I had overlooked that.

There is a page from where you can download the CIS installer but that is the combined installer (32 and 64 bits version). It can be found when clicking on the Comodo Internet Security on the left part of the screen.

Best solution is to download as described by my colleague Ronny:

On a side note. The download pages and general navigation are at least a bit of a mess… I never go there to download as I get the installer from the forums so I lost touch with them …

Best thing is to download from the forum from the Release topic.

But consider getting the 5.8 beta as it gives much better security with x64.
