Question for those who use auto sandbox \ Treat unknown programs as option. Did it ever actually saved your pc? It’s been mildly annoying for me so far. I mean it runs every program that isn’t in whitelist with restricted rights… that pretty often causes the proigran to not work correctly. I know that you can manually add them to trusted, but it’s just that many MMO gaes for example are ending up in unrecognized list cuz they update pretty often. It might not be a big deal, but I’m just curious did it actually ever saved you \ your PC?
P.S. I’m using Treat unknown programs as “Untrusted” what about you?
Me too.
Just allow the installer if you are sure it is safe application.
If .exe is sandboxed, just tick the option not to sandbox it again and restart the application.
Third option is to manually add .exe to safe files.
If you completely trust the application that is continually updating, you can either give the application the Installer or Updater policy, or add it to your Trusted Files list using the, Use file names instead of file hashes option.
This way, the application will not be sandboxed the next time it is updated.
It has definitely saved me in the past. I actually download malware on my computer, which is protected as described here.
I have sometimes accidently selected to run a file instead of some other operation. The automatic sandbox automatically kicked in and protected me. The automatic sandbox actually makes protecting you easier than with most other HIPS. It automatically blocks, or allows, certain attempts instead of asking you each time.
Thus it makes staying safe while online much easier than it otherwise would have been.
