I have a high speed dsl connection to the internet and this computer is configured for passthrough on the dsl modem. I have 2 nic’s in this computer 1 is connected to the first hub for my lan and the other is connected to a second hub which the dsl modem is also connected. The problem is every once in a while on reboot I get a warning and an error in the event log. The warning and error is as follows:
Warning:
Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 000C41ECCD6D. The following error occurred:
The semaphore timeout period has expired. . Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.
Error:
Your computer has lost the lease to its IP address xx.xx.xxx.x(ip omitted by me) on the Network Card with network address 000C41ECCD6D.
The DHCP server is my dsl modem located at address 192.168.1.254 and I have added 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.255 as a trusted zone. The network address referenced in the warning/error log is the nic connected to the internet. I still obtain my ip address once the desktop is fully restored.
I have confirmed that this is related to Comodo Firewall as I have uninstalled it for a period of time and rebooted several times and the error/warnings never came back. After I reinstall it the error/warnings comes back on reboots but not every time.
The network card connected to the internet is setup for auto dns and auto ip but my ip is static as per Bellsouth’s instructions.
I did a search in the forum for DHCP and only found one entry which was not related to this little problem.
Thank you.
