Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows 7 upgrade, SD Card BSOD [Issue Report]

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 system with media reader. With the SD Card plugged in, I get a BSOD every time. Works fine if I remove Comodo.

System is a stock Dell Inspiron 530 with media reader option from Dell except fo the Windows 7 upgrade which I added later on.

I have Comodo Internet Firewall software.

Firewall software works perfect sans the SD Card reader BSOD Bug.

Hoping for this bug to be fixed in a future Comodo update.

Everytime the system BSOD’s and shuts down after insertion of the SD Card.

Forgot to add:

Software version is 5.3.181415.1237

The latest version.

  1. What you did: Insert SD Card into My media reader in my system.
  2. What actually happened or you actually saw: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
  3. What you expected to happen or see: Media card should have worked
  4. How you tried to fix it & what happened: Had to uninstall Comodo firewall to get it to work.
  5. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes here?: Yes, problem is isolated to Comodo. If I remove Comodo it works fine.
  6. Details & exact version of any application (execpt CIS) involved with download link:
  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen: Insert SD Card with Comodo Firewall installed
  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons):
Problem seems like its due to an incompatibility with the media reader which is a bug in the software or a modification and workaround required to enable said device to work. In 2007 Toshiba and Dell’s with media readers also had bugs but it was with a different OS. Rather than use Vista which came with my system I upgraded to Windows 7 and I am thinking that there is software code which needs to be changed.

Added Report to first post

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation
