Hi I recently installed comodo v5 version 1142. I am trying to run many of normal applications such as CCleaner and Hitman Pro, Task manager, etc and Comodo does not remember any of the rules for these programs even though I check the “remember my answer” or “always trust this file” button.
actually, any time I run a program that requires me to answer a question from Windows to run the program, it fails to run. My screen is frozen in the dimmed state indefinitely and I have to hit ctrl alt del to bring up task manager and unfreeze my screen. Then a popup saying that Dllhost.exe is unrecognized. It’s also called COM Surrogate. I check always trust this file and click allow. But then my program never runs since this popup always comes up. It’s also blocking things like UserAccountSettings when I go change preferences in Windows 7.
My suggestion would be to uninstall → run the comodo clean tool(with admin rights) → reinstall → set to training mode and restart windows a couple of times before changing to the desired security mode and editing the security policy to your liking. This will ensure you have all the default rules that are set during install and all that all of windows application that are started during boot are allowed to run.
Are you running them from an encrypted or external disk or USB flash disk?
Sounds like User Account control from Windows

I’m having a similar problem after updating Comondo…normal programs like CCleaner and DVBviewer (DVB Tv) are stopped from running and I have to press CTRL-Shift-ESC to regain some control but still they wont run.
They worked with the previous version of Comodo and also once with the new Comodo version - the rules were supposed to be remembered but apparently these aren’t…
Very annoying indeed - thinking of switching off to another firewall…unfortunately there aren’t many alternatives for XP64, hence a final attempts here to find a solution in this forum.
another annoying issue:
after “stopping” certain application from hanging (because Comodo won’t allow them to run), the CPU “runs” them in the backbround - I mean these aren’t seen at least one check the Processes Tab in the Task Manager…apparently each hanging process hogs the CPU via CMDAGENT by about 25% for each hanging application - in my case DVBViewer and CCleaner processes were running in the background (these shouldn’t be there in the first place) and CMDAGENT was loading the CPU by 50% (it was only 25% after attempting to run DVBViewer and 50% after trying to launch CCleaner).
At the moment the only way to free the CPU is to restart XP64…
