Cygwin VERY slow

Cygwin is the Unix/Linux like environment for Windows.

Widely used by those that like their Unix tools  but have to use Windows.

Currently Comodo slows down the Cygwin programs tremendously.

Example from my machine: starting vim (text editor)

  • with Comodo antivirus or Defense+ (or both) turned off it takes 1-2 sec to start.

  • with Comodo antivirus and Defense+ both turned on it takes about 15-20 sec to start.

Slell scripts become basically unusable because (almost) each command is in fact a standalone executable (the shell being like a “glue” that bind then together) and takes ages to start.

Is there anything I can do ?

Cheers.

Try the workarounds in App. is not working correctly, but does not seem to be s/boxed. What to do? [v5] and see if they fix it for you or not.

Can you provide some detailed steps to recreate, perhaps with details of the settings used in D+. I use Cygwin and have not had any serious performance problems.
