Current Release Version and Download

Where can I download the latest version of the free firewall?

One thread mentions what seems to be the latest in the 5.x branch, and may or may not be the same as the one hosted by CNET’s and linked to on Comodo’s main site. However, since the context of the download doesn’t include version information, and the page only is only precise up to “5.12” I have no idea.

Another thread seems to indicate that the newest version of the 6.x branch no longer includes standalone applications, or they were omitted.

<Insert various rude complaints about a security oriented company not making it easy to keep updated on the latest version of their software aside from in-client updates here, oh and get off my lawn while you’re at it.>

The fact that there isn’t version information in the filenames is also, to be blunt, pretty uncanny.

I agree with you, it bugs the hell out me when software companies don’t tell you what version you’re downloading, before you actually download it. But even worse when the download button on the official Comodo website links to V5 on the cnet website.

Anyway, here’s a list of V6 versions:

Ordinarily I’d be cautious about downloading from sites that aren’t the vendors site, however I originally got these links from this forum, so I presume they’re above board?

Hi f895054,
If you only require the Firewall you can download the Comodo Internet Security installer and select Customize Installer during installation and select only the Firewall.
Select components to install help
COMODO Internet Security 6.1.276867.2813

As Captainsticks mentioned, you can customize the installer to install just the firewall if that’s what you prefer.

Even the previous “standalone” installers contained all of the modules that make up CIS. The installer script was just modified to only install the firewall. At any point after installing the firewall, you could add the other modules to your installation without having to download anything else.

So nothing has changed other than the fact that there isn’t a custom installer script to only install the firewall.

Can you provide a link to the page that you saw this on? I’ve never seen a download link on Comodo’s website that goes to anything other than

Thanks. That’s news to me. I don’t visit those pages often. I always get the downloads through the forums.

Interesting… If you follow the CIS link in the left-hand pane, you’re taken to a page with the normal Comodo download link.
