CSC will not clean individual user accounts

I have three different user accounts on my Vista operating system… I have used CSC to clean my administrator account numerous times without any problem… However today I attempted to clean the other two user accounts and each time I would analyze the privacy info on both accounts… The info shown would be the privacy info from the administrator’s account and not the privacy info from the user account that I was logged into… This appears to be a major problem…

Hi,

We ran a lot of test before, and just to make sure, we tried to reproduce your scenario but on other accounts in Vista, Privacy Cleaner found different info, specific to the programs and entries that existed for each account. I attached 2 screenshots to see the difference between the results found on 2 accounts after scanning with CPC. Observe the names of the applications found, and the total files found for cleaning ( 278 on the main account and 51 on the second account created for testing ).

Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your reply… Attached you will see the results I get when I run privacy cleaner on two different accounts… Do you think running csc on a limited account has anything to do with this… I have uninstalled and reinstalled csc this morning just in case there was a problem with installed but that changed nothing… Is there any thoughts on what I might do to correct this problem…

Okay I figured this out… To me this does seem like a bug that csc may want to correct… I changed the limited account or standard account to an administrator account and attached you will see the results have changed… The only question for Comodo is why would I have to change a standard account to an admin account just to get csc to scan the standard account… This also means you can never use CSC on the guest account in vista since that account can not be changed to an administrator account… Just as a side note CCleaner does clean each account properly… Hope this helps identify this bug…

Hi,

A limited ( standard ) account is by it’s nature a restrictive one, so most programs will have a hard time running. We tried CCleaner many times on standard accounts and it doesn’t even install ( see screenshot attached ) and besides that, just like with CSC, you have to switch between accounts to scan each one, it will not scan all registry from the administrator account. The only way you can access CCleaner or CSC’s Privacy Cleaner is to manually browse for the executable ( CCleaner.exe or CPC.exe ).

Thank you for your support.

I think you are missing the point I am trying to make… All the programs I install on this computer are install under my user admin sign… I installed ccleaner under the admin sign and I am able to sign in under the standard user and the guest acct and open and run ccleaner from the recycle bin… Attached you will see clearly that I can use ccleaner under a standard account… Now if ccleaner can clean a standard account and the guest acct in vista why can’t CSC… I enjoy using CSC but if you could correct this bug it would make CSC better… Thank you

Hi,

Please add your request to the Wishlist section of the CSC forum where it will be analyzed and implemented if possible.

Thank you for your support.

I’m assuming I read it correctly, also I tend to misread things :frowning: It reminds me of another post here, so I’ll post like I did with the otherone, plus it saves me from some typing

why not install Comodo System Cleaner in each account then create a scheduled time for each one to run automaticly Wink

example for each account with CSC in it

  1. go to registry cleaner —> click “settings” —>Put a check mark on “run registry cleaner on” —> set the day, time and date.
Remove check mark from “use registry protection” so the computer doesn’t reboot afterwords

  2. go to disk cleaner ----> click “settings” —>Put a check mark on “run registry cleaner on” —> set the day, time and date.
Remove check mark on “use safe delete to remove files” so the computer doesn’t reboot afterwords

Now it would run automatically at a scheduled time Smiley assuming you do it for each account. If I’m wrong somewhere, please note it

While cleaning individual user account might be on a wishlist, this might be a good temporary solution

I hope this this helps u :-TU

Hello,

We’ll definitely fix this. Thank you for reporting.

I see it this way: do you really want a limited (regular) account or a Guest user account removing/making changes to your system or another’s account?
I never considered this a bug, but rather a security feature that was designed into Windows Vista.
Asking for changes to a software program so it can access other accounts (when not logged in as Admin) would be defeating this security design.
I see that sort of change to be easily abused and abusive in access powers. It should not be made.

Edit

If the change is made so that a regular user can access another’s user account, then I will have to remove CSC as it becomes a security issue.

Hello,

I was referring to the fact that rising the access rights of CSC did not produced proper results. To rise access rights would mean that you are an admin anyway so you could also manually delete something from a standard user account.

We won’t let a standard user deleting via CSC something from other user account or admins account. Everything has to be according to the access rights that a specific user has.

I can understand you do not want a standard user making changes or even using CSC… However in order to run CSC on the standard or guest account on my Vista machine my admin password is needed… So right now to open CSC the admin password is needed however the cleaning is not done to the standard acct… Please see the cleaning pics from the above posts…
