Since upgrading to the latest version of the firewall and defence+ I have a cpu usage of around 17% by cfp.exe and this on a dual core 5giga processor.
This significantly reduces performance
Also, I used to listen to the radio online but now if a page updates in the browser it interferes with the sound. This also happens if I try playing music (from my own collection) in any application - ie windows media player, media monkey… if I am online and I load a page or a page updates - interference with the sound.
Any explanations ?
And what to do ?
I don’t understand “security talk” and to be honest I don’t understand a thing about how this thing works and don’t really want to have to waste time finding out. I just know it is necessary !

Long periods of streaming or p2p traffic can cause a big increase in DPC’s which may also up CPU usage.
Actually I don’t listen to anything anymore - online or off - iff I have things to do online - every time a page loads the sound bubbles/hashes or whatever - sometimes so cut up it makes no sense. I don’t do very much P2P stuff. But this has only happened since I updated from the old Comodo Firewall to the Internet Security version.
What is a nuisance also is that this usage issue is significantly slowing any work I do with images.
Your link, which I don’t understand at all, only refers to XP. I’m in Vista (somewhat to my regret) with all service packs and updates installed. All Windows “security solutions” are turned off. I have continued to use Avast AV (which prevents me downloading the Comodo security test by the way !)
Try updating to the latest drivers of your audio solution. Go to the web site of the card’s or chip maker for drivers. Microsoft’s or OEM’s (Dell, HP, etc) driver updates are usually behind.
This does not solve the fundamental problem of high CPU usage.
Before the update the firewall ticked along at a maximum of 5% Now it can peak at 18%. For something that is supposed to “work in the background” this is too much.
I’ve used Comodo trouble-free for over 3 years, so I am feeling somewhat disappointed.
May be the update didn’t work out well. Please try a clean install and see what happens. From what version did you update by the way?
Start with exporting your configuration to a folder that is not part of the Comodo folder under Program Files. This way you can restore your configuration after the reinstall.

To be even more thorough open Device Manager and set it to show hidden devices under menu option View. Then see if there are Comodo driver(s) left in non Plug and Play drivers. If so select the driver → click right → uninstall and reboot.

C:\boot.ini.comodofirewall (this file may not exist).
WARNING: Do not mistakenly remove the original “boot.ini”.
CSC will forget the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ComodoGroup\CFP and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ComodoGroup\Comodo Internet Security
