CPU usage of 25% (sometimes 35%): cfp 5-Win7-X64-Defense+ in training mode [NBZ]

Edited post

The bug/issue

  1. What you did: Defense + in training mode upon fresh OS install + some apps
  2. What actually happened or you actually saw: Windows Media player jerks
  3. What you expected to happen or see: smooth play of video in mediaplayer
  4. How you tried to fix it & what happened: Task manager showed cfp using 25-35% CPU
  5. If its an application compatibility problem have you tried the application fixes here?: no compatibility issues
  6. Details (exact version) of any application involved with download link: not I’m aware of, fresh OS install
  7. Whether you can make the problem happen again, and if so exact steps to make it happen: Closing cfp solved the issue. Starting cfp → same issue. Defense+ on safe mode solves the issue. Defense+ back to training or disabled: cfp uses again too much cpu
  8. Any other information (eg your guess regarding the cause, with reasons): something wrong with the defense+ mode?

Files appended. (Please zip unless screenshots).

  1. Screenshots illustrating the bug: no need, self explaining
  2. Screenshots of related CIS event logs and the Defense+ Active Processes List: attached active process list, no event logs
  3. A CIS config report or file: config file attached
  4. Crash or freeze dump file: no crash

Your set-up

  1. CIS version, AV database version & configuration used: CFP 5 last version downloadable + updated
  2. a) Have you updated (without uninstall) from CIS 3 or 4: NO, clean install on new OS
    b) if so, have you tried a clean reinstall (without losing settings - if not please do)?:
  3. a) Have you imported a config from a previous version of CIS: NO
    b) if so, have U tried a standard config (without losing settings - if not please do)?:
  4. Have you made any other major changes to the default config? (eg ticked ‘block all unknown requests’, other egs here.): No
  5. Defense+, Sandbox, Firewall & AV security levels: D+= training , Sandbox= disable , Firewall = custom, AV = NO
  6. OS version, service pack, number of bits, UAC setting, & account type: Win7 x64, UAC default setting, admin account
  7. Other security and utility software installed: Nod32 AV x64 v4.2.67.10 (last version) + updates
  8. Virtual machine used (Please do NOT use Virtual box): NO

Nod32 antivirus (not internet security) running in background (no overlapping parts as I’m aware of?)
No overlapping function with any of win7 security options (firewall 3 parts, AV…)
uTorrent using the network at maximum bandwidth, but issue seems related to defense+ not firewall

Original post:

Hi,

I have the same issue as here

http://forums.Comodo.com/antivirus-help-cis/cfpexe-high-cpu-usage-cis-v5-2011-t66137.0.html

CFP with firewall in custom mode, Defense in training and Sandbox disabled
Nod32 antivirus running in background (no overlapping parts as I’m aware of?)
No overlapping function with any of win7 security options (firewall 3 parts, AV…)

I see CFP spikes to 25-34% usage of my Q6600 CPU, often at 25%, so killing one core of the Q6600

Disabling firewall with slider won’t help

Only exit/restart helps

Well, I tried some more options:

Disable Defense plus with slider: no change
Put Defense Plus slider in “Safe mode”: bug solved, like with shawno at https://forums.comodo.com/antivirus-help-cis/cfpexe-high-cpu-usage-cis-v5-2011-t66137.0.html

Please, solve this

Many thanks

PS 1 : Network activity is very high when it happens

We would very much appreciate it if you would edit your first post to create an issue report in line with the bug forum guidelines and format here. You can copy and paste the format from this topic.

To understand the reasons why we ask you to follow these guidelines please see below.

WHY WE ASK YOU TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES
Bugs/issues can be impossible or very time consuming to fix if developers don’t have enough information to reproduce them. Since CIS is free, development time is limited. So if you want your issue fixed, please use the format below to describe it.

To avoid clutter, issues not described in the format below your post will not be moved to the ‘moderator verified’ issues topic. This means that the developers may not look at it.

Best wishes and many thanks in anticipation

Dennis
