CPU question

Im new to the CPU but it seems the lowest it goes is 11 and the highest I have seen it spike to is 65. Is this normal? What is the normal range and when should I start to question it?

CPU for what file or process? CFP ??? Can you post a screenshot?

I’d love to do a screen print but as I posted in the thread I am looking for help on many issues saving and pasting to paint is a no no thanks to the Commdo.

As far as which is is from the windows task and it is in the preformance tap that I see the activity of the CPU usage. Does that help since I cant do the screen print?

I see. In the Task Manager, under the Image Name column, which filenames do you notice consume the most numbers corresponding to the CPU column? In my sample screenshot (my task manager columns have been re-arranged, so yours may differ), System ID Process uses the most at 81% and then Opera.exe at 15%.

Well what do you know after rebooting the paint/screen print is working Ic an paste again.

Well, if we want to know what exactly is consuming the CPU, the Process tab should be clicked on instead of Performance tab (which just shows the overall usage). If it’s not CFP, then I’ll move this thread to the General board.

Unfortuately not because your screenshot happens to show the items that are not using any CPU ;D. I also edited your pic so to mask any potential private info ;). You’ll have to scroll down then upload another screenshot.

11% to 65% is NORMAL (:WIN) DUAL or SINGLE CORE CPU

Just curious what are running to get that?
Cpu peak on opening Task Manager.

Impressive Dennis2 (:CLP) our PC’s here is Processing 62… it runs from 5% to 70% (Average) SINGLE CORE CELERON-D with YOUTUBE at FF3 and a AVIRA, BoCLEAN, CFP3 w/SAFESURF, SAS, MB, ENCARTA & YM running and, up to 15% if my Pc has no Activity. definitely up to 65% CPU USAGE is NORMAL.
