CPF & Yz Shadow - Incompatibility??? [RESOLVED]

I recently became a Comodo convert after seeing the PC Mag review of CPF. I also figured I would give CAVS a try. I love both… except I hit one snag. After installing the programs I noticed my system was exceptionally sluggish. A quick check of Task Manager should an app called Yz Shadows pegging the CPU with any window activity.

If you are not familiar with Yz Shadow, it’s a small app which adds a (Mac OSX like) shadow to menus, windows, etc to give a better 3-D feel to the desktop. I’ve been using this program for several years without incident.

Well, I uninstalled CAVS first expecting it to be the culprit since it is still in beta and logically, to me, would be more likely to somehow cause problems. However, it wasn’t until uninstalling CPF that my system returned to normal. I can’t imagine what Yz Shadow and CPF have against each other… but with CPF I have problems and without I don’t.

Yz Shadow is one of those “don’t have to have, but once you get used to it, it’s as addictive as ■■■■■ cocaine” kind of apps. Obviously, having a firewall is more important, but…

Any ideas?

Hi and welcome,

What version of CPF are you using? Can you try the beta CPF 2.3.3.33 it fixed some issues and may solve these, but you will need to uninstall and reinstall when it becomes a stable release next week.

Mike

Thanks for the quick response Mike; the version I was using is the latest release, v.2.2.0.1.1. I will try the latest Beta and report back.

Your welcome, hopefully this will solve your issues.

Mike
