I would like to know, how do you test the CPF speed, and if you already compare it with others firewalls like the Windows Firewall, CHX, ZoneAlarm, Outpost, Look n’ Stop, etc…
If yes, what was the results?

Very good question.
We don’t have this info yet.
However, it would be very challenging to do an apple to apple comparison. Even though CPF is faster than many other firewalls, it does do extra checks and stops much more leak tests etc. So in order to test you need to test each component and their speed, which will be very difficult.

If my PC is running at 91MPH before CPF and 90 MPH after - I’m happy. As a firewall become more extensive, it will naturally employ more CPU cycles, but it’s a trade off I’m more than happy to make. CPF is the best firewall around, the almost imperceptible slowdown is part of securing my PC. I tend to base my opinion of how my PC is performing is AFTER any necessary security software is loaded.

I’m referring about the delay that CPF could add to the Internet connection, and not about the CPU time…
I realise that, but I meant overall - CPU throughput, connections (LAN, net, whatever), disk speed. Providing it doesn’t make me crawl when I access what ever resources Iwant (on the net or over a LAN), then it’s OK by me. It would have to restrict its impact on the net connection to prevent timeouts,of course.
Now, if I was using it to launch missiles or keep a reactor cool in sector 7G, then the overall performance hit would need to be measurable and within defined limits.
