CPF 3.0.10.238 BETA 32-Bit Bug Reports

Hi All,

Whenever I have the Defense+ turned on, it freaks out just about every program on my computer, including Windows, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Thunderbird, Windows Sidebar, etc, and even Comodo Firewall! Taskbar items disappear, desktop items vanish, and nothing will respond.

I have to turn off the computer by holding down the power button. Then, when I restart, if I am lucky, I can turn off Defense+, and the firewall works perfect!

Surely, there must be others that have this problem. I understand the firewall is very limited with Defense+ turned off, so I hope Comodo will fix this with the final version.

I am using a Dell Inspiron e1505 Laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 Bit, Intel Core2 Duo CPU, and 2 G memory.
I use Avast Antivirus, and a few different registry cleaners and disk cleaners.

Comodo Firewall is a great product, and I’ve been using older versions for years with much success.

Hi FerrisDigital

This is a Bug Report thread for version 3.0.10.238 Beta and not for the 2.4 versions. CFP 2.4 is a production version so it’s probably best to take that up with Support at this URL http://support.comodo.com/

The core’s of 2.4 Public Release and 3.0 Beta are considerably different, so it’s highly likely that the issue you’re experiencing is not reproducable between the two versions. That is definitely a MAJOR concern for a public server box tho and since 3.0.10.238 is still in beta test, I doubt anyone will have it installed on such an important machine either…I know I sure as heck wouldn’t anyway, so once it goes RC I guess we’ll see if that issue remains soon after.
Thx for the heads-up!

Good Luck with your issue!

Dave

To add to the browser process not terminated, I’ve seen this with M$IE7 under XP SP2. Sometimes the process terminates just fine, other times up to 4 IE processes are left in memory. Am still playing with enable/disable various features (mostly direct screen/keyboard/ctfmon.exe memory/service control manager), and still don’t have a clue about what could be linked to the non-unloading problem. Am also using FF & Opera, might’ve seen them stuck too, but not sure really.

A new separate report, don’t want it added to another post.

Saving images from a webpage with Firefox causes the browser to go to 100% CPU usage for up to 10 seconds. I always suspected there was some strange code behind saving images from webpages in Firefox, up to possibly just adding the link to the file to the built-in download browser. However with 3.0.10 beta there are now several seconds of irresponsive PC, all while a browser saves an image it has technically already downloaded to another place on the HDD. I also checked, and no events are generated by either FW or D+, so apparently FF has all the required permissions saved to its profiles already.

Minor logical GUI bug:

  1. Go to Firewall->Advanced->Predefined Firewall Policies.
  2. Click “Add”
  3. Give some name

Now click on “copy from” and the name bar gets frozen/greyed out untill “Add” window is open. :-\

First off all, I’m very excited to have found Comodo after having so many issues with Zone … Now, I’m also excited about being able to test the beta version of Comodo. I just installed it on a Vista system and all was working until I tried to delete some emails from my lycos mail account. Well, the page timed out and didn’t refresh. Next, I was attempting to post on a forum. I was able to log in but couldn’t post. The page would refresh. Obviously, my comodo firewall was blocking some setting but I don’t know which one. I am an I.T. Manager and have a bit of experience with firewalls but am in need of a bit of help here. This problem with me not being able to refresh forum pages after posting, deleting emails, etc. is happening in IE, Firefox and Avant. Any ideas? I had to uninstall Comodo for the time being because I couldn’t post to this forum last night for this very reason.

Help.

Mark

Forgot to Mention that I am working on an AMD 64 PC with 2GB of memory, Windows Vista 32 bit, etc. Also, have Kaspersky AV running.

There are two crash dumps that were appended on November 2nd. No one from Comodo seems to have downloaded them to have the problem analyzed (0 downloads). I guess the problems must have already been fixed

Firefox (so far the only program that I’ve found) won’t start unless I have comodo closed. It doesn’t work if I just disable D+. I’ve added Mozilla to my safe vendors, still nothing.

I’ve also tried adding firefox.exe to my safe list, but nothing shows up there. If I try to add it again, it just tells me the program is already there.

I recently replaced (unzip with replace) a file on my system and CFP shows it as deleted in the Pending Files display. This is wrong. If I select Purge, all entries are valid and the item shown as deleted is not removed. In this case, it should not be removed since the file was not really deleted, but just replaced. The status needs to be fixed.

I have also noticed some drivers created on the fly and later deleted by the application show a status of new even though the driver was deleted. This happened to me running Process Explorer for the first time.

On a Dell Latitude 620 with WinXP SP2, I see now for the second time that the installation of CPF runs through fine, the firewall and defense+ work, but on some reboot some time later, CPF produces an error about not being able to find some PNG and exits. It can be restarted using D:\Comodo\cfp.exe. The configuration seems to be kept.

The same also happened to me with the previous CPF, but only once.

What is going on?
