First of all, big thanks for this masterpiece to the Comodo staff!
I just changed from the Alpha version to the this Beta, and couple of minor problems i noticed by the change:
1: In EVERY system boot, the boot sequence stalls on the login (when the desktop is visible&~50% of programs are started up) for about 2 minutes. If i just wait for the two minutes, everything loads ok and is working fine; so just an annoying thingie in start-up.
Sometimes after system has loaded, i can´t see the firewall icon in the tray, and clicking it in the program won´t bring it up either. Anyway it can be found in task manager, but it won´t give any notifications (in custom policy mode).
No it is the bug in logging which shows those as if they are allowed. Actually they should have been shown as “Blocked”. So CFP is blocking but bug is related to logging.
I use Netmeter ( | ReadError ) to monitor internet traffic (wired, dialup, wireless) and WirelessMon ( http://www.passmark.com ) to monitor/control access points under Vista. Neither works with 3.0.10; I am unable to find any of the adapters and therefore none of the access points. I tried adding these programs as trusted; no help. What do I need to do (other than remove Comodo) to make the adapters visible again? The wireless adapter actually works fine, and I can see the limited Vista data and control, but can’t really monitor and control beyond that. Thanks; Ed.
Note: Under WirelessMon, I finally found an adapter called “Comodo Miniport” as one of the options and that seems to work by selecting it and letting it rollover to the adapter name. For Netmeter, nada-there is no list of old and new adapters like there was before. I would expect to see the same thing as in WirelesMon, with a “Comodo MIniport”, but there is now no list of the various adapters at all.
Note 2: Comodo also appears to interfere with Vista wireless network management. Currently the Vista icon shows not connected, but everything is connected and working fine. A disconnect and reconnect fixed it, but this is definitely a Comodo problem-not something that every occurred before it was installed. Changing networks seems to be a problem with Comodo installed.
Computer is a Toshiba P205 laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate, with Avast! antivirus running, Comodo just added to replace Vista firewall, Netmeter does not display the choices for adapters that it did before Comodo, and does not recognize any network activity shen set to “all”, rendering it useless. A similar program to Netmeter, DU Meter, appears to work fine so the conflict is between Netmeter and Comodo. The other problems with Wireless Monitor and wireless management appear to have been transients which resolved themselves.
Ok, well I’m thinking I found some bugs, I was using Nod32 RC and uninstalled it and restarted the computer, then once restarted I checked Comodo firewall to see that it had a red X in the Defense+ and it said to run the diagnostic to fix the problem, then I did that and it didn’t detect any problem, so defense+ remained not working (I later restarted again and it was working fine). And another bug I have found is that when I check for updates, it says Error 108: update could not be completed, check your internet connection settings. I hope you guys look into this and fix it, thanks! (V)
Thanks for the update! Note I never said the bug is with the firewall. ‘system idle process’ is shown as allowed was carefully worded Good to know that this is indeed just a logging issue.
EDIT: while we are at it, please consider changing the ‘System Idle Process’ string to something like ‘Port is not open’, because I foresee a flood of people coming asking "Why is my system idle process trying to get onto the Internet?’

Frontpage 2003 gets stuck and cannot read list of files on a remote website when using the remote website option. I know CPF 3.0.10.238 is detecting Frontpages FTP as it said in the alert that it was connecting to an IP address using FTP which was automatically allowed in learn with safe mode. CPF 3.0.10.238 was in default configuration the first time this happened. Once I had disabled the firewall completely Frontpage 2003 could connect to the remote server (FTP) and collect the file list. The funny thing is I connect to the FP server fine with explorer (My Network Places) after CPF 3.0.10.328 automatically detected that.
I tried adding Frontpage to the FTP client and Trusted applications rules (in turn), however would not work. The only way I could get it to work was turn off the CPF3 firewall. CPF 2.4.18.184 works perfectly whilst carrying out this operation and I have now reverted back.
Otherwise this is an excellent firewall and look forward to the final release.
The subject says it all. This happened while I was trying to add something to the Pending Files if I recall correctly. I did not submit the error report since this is beta. Crash.dmp appended.
File submiting doesn’t upload anything. The ‘submiting’ popup window display ‘Preparing…’ status for a few seconds, then it blinks ‘Checking…’ and ‘Uploading…’ ( I think) and close, but in fact none data are sent to Comodo. After several trials CFP.EXE consumed 50% of CPU and freezed completly. When I tried to kill CFP.EXE through Task Mannager it displayed ‘access denied’ message so I had to reboot computer in order to make it responsive again.
i have to say this. i just had a new mb replaced in my laptop. so i took the opportunity to flush and fill my hd. i installed comodo fw as one of the first apps. comodo works great. it initializes in seconds instead of minutes. put d+ on clean pc mode and it is beautiful. now i do a flush and fill every so often because i install and uninstall software because i am a tester. so, maybe some reverse engineering could be had. i’m pretty sure that most people won’t do a flush and fill just for comodo, although it is great after having done it myself.
gibran.
i have more to tell you on the other thing.
by the way, after flush and fill utorrent is fine.
goes to show, and that’s why i do it, a flush and fill can work wonders. that’s windows though
Hitting the cancel button on an alert will create a block rule if “remember my answer” is checked. It should not work this way.The alert should only be blocked for a single instance and ignore the “remember my answer” if it happens to be selected. If I hit cancel, I don’t want a rule being created for that alert.
on a clean xp pro, installation of cfp first gives a success message but after the “registration screen” a rollback is done and a message is displayed: “problem with deleting shortcuts. please kindly delete the shortcuts manually”. leaving nothing but the repair folder (+files) in the installation path.
in the background the installer displays a progress bar with a message “rolling back 215%”.
tried both of
CFP_Setup_3.0.10.238_XP_Vista_x32_BETA.exe
CFP_Setup_3.0.9.229_XP_Vista_x32_BETA.exe
xp is installed on drive f: as dual-boot with vista business, which resides on c:
I’ve uninstalled everything related to security: AVGas, a-squared, SUPERAntispyware, SpywareTerminator, Spybot, K9 and PeerGuardian filters, all antirootkits, etc.
Still not able to install the network driver. Windows alert me about non-signed driver (I’ll post a screenshot later).
Still the message “The network firewall is not functioning properly”. :THNK
