Connected, but not really!

Ok,
I log in and all, but same IP stays, what could be the problem?
I disabeled firewall
I enabled the Comodo connection is Network Connections
Im usinsing SP2, Please Help??

What IP is staying the same? Why do you want the IP changed?

What version of Windows are you on? XP SP2 or Vista SP2?

isnt that what EasyVPN is made for?
Using other VPN services (as a previous user of UltraVPN) i understood that VPNs are made to change your IP for you to browse the net securely without anyone knowing your real IP?
Thats what i thought EasyVPN is? is it?

When I open EVPN I get an IP in the 5.x.y.x range. I don’t know if it is the same each time I connect. My public IP address is not in the 5.x.y.x range. To know what your public IP is you can go to this site: http://www.whatismyip.com/ .

My Question is, isnt EasyVPN a replacment for your original IP?
I found the answer which is NO.
It is used to exchange files and chat with someone else who has EVPN.
The IP shown i guess is the secure IP that is sending and reciving files.
I guess I will stick with UltraVPN,
Thanks alot.
And if i do need to echange confed files and text, will use EVPN!

I don’t think UVPN will change your IP either. You IP is handed out by your ISP.

EasyVPN is designed to be a secure encrypted communications channel between two or more parties.

Not really. What you’re describing there is an anonymizing proxy, where you connect to the proxy. Once connected, you request a web page or a URL and the proxy fetches it for you and forwards the infromation to your system by means of the connection between you and the proxy. This insulates your IP address from the URL you have requested.

VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. A VPN is a secured connection between two (or more) known parties. Generally an IP address is assigned to the connection, usually to a logical (as opposed to a physical) network adaptor. This is the “other” IP address you are referring to. All data is still exiting your system by means of the (assumedly) one physical network adaptor in your PC.

This is how it has to work. Your ISP and your PC are on the same subnet. If we assigned a radically different IP address to your physical network you would then effectively leave your ISPs network which would leave you without an internet connection.

Thats what i thought EasyVPN is?

Think again.

EasyVPN is basically a combination of the functions of Hamachi (VPN), PC Anywhere (Remote Access) and an Instant Messaging service (Chat). It cannot act as an anonymizing service.

Hope this helps,
