Configuration preservation

Under Vista x64 ultimate (SP1) I’m failing to export configuration (regardless of target directory and it’s premission, even after changing, via compatibility, cfpconfig to always run as admin).

On XP x32 (SP3) :

I’ve exported configuration from 3.0.25.378. After removing it and installing CIS 3.5.54375.427 (only FW) I’ve imported the exported configuration.

I got a successful indication however nothing was restored (not my new predefined ed2k FW type application policy, nor already applied policies for FW or Defense+).

  • It’s cfp.exe which is doing export, so it should be run as administrator to export config under Vista UAC protection
  • For your imported settings to be applied try switch to some other configuration and back just after import is done.
  • so perhaps cfp.exe properties should be set to run as admin within distribution

  • another issue (not related to thread - however related to change distribution / installation behavior) is auto active Windows FW upon removal.

- For your imported settings to be applied try switch to some other configuration and back just after import is done.
  • my mistake, wasn’t aware to multiple configurations under CIS, :BNC
