Comodo Will Not Uninstall. Troubles/Errors/Issues

So ever since the new version of Comodo came out, it has become the largest headache of all time. I’m in need of serious help, I’ve tried everything. My issues are this, it seems there are previous existing Comodo processes starting at startup that prevent my current Comodo firewall from starting. My solution was to try to uninstall and reinstall, but now when I go to uninstall I’m getting an Error Code:2381 and cannot uninstall, so I can reinstall in safe mode. Please help, any information would be amazing!

Alright, so I finally got the firewall to uninstall. I ran the clean up tool provided in the forum, restarted, then was able to uninstall it. Now I am back to my original issue, comodo won’t launch at startup. I am running Vista Service Pack 2. Also my other programs cannot launch at start up.

Do you mean no program (*.exe files) will start up when starting Windows. Is that only when yo have CIS installed or also when CIS is not installed?

Do you have “Block all unknown request if the application is closed” enabled?

incenerator, I had almost a same problem before, after i used the clean up tool after reboot, the Comodo application agent stop working and the updates failed on start up, even I manually update the CIS still not working after that some of my startup software failed to launch either. even my epowermanagement stop working too and after that I cant open my other software. Then I try to uninstall the comodo but there an error (i forgot the error code #) so I used system restore lastnight and everything works fine again… I use Windows vista service pack 2, I hope comodo can fix this. Its a real serious problem.

EricJH, so to answer your question, the block all unknown requests if application is closed is not enabled. The issue is, the only programs that will load are my Avast!, webcam, and some Intel pre installed software. My Comodo along with other programs are not able to load at startup. I looked in my running processes and services to see the multiple cfp.exe s are running and cannot be stopped due to its protection. Now when I go through Comodo’s view processes and actually end the correct cfp.exe, I get all my startup programs to run finally, but I’m not sure which one is the right one and why there are multiple cfp.exe processes. This is becoming a very large headache.

Multiple instances of cfp.exe that is truly odd.

Open Regedit and look under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and see if there are multiple entries of cfp.exe. Delete all but one and reboot the computer. Make sure to make a System Restore point before making these changes.

When I look in the entries there is only one cfp.exe, but when I open up task manager or Comodo’s process list, their are 2 identical cfp.exe s with 2 different PIDs. I’ll attatch a screen shot. (I manually opened Comodo)

Can you take a look with Autoruns and see if you find two entries for cfp.exe? When you find two can you post the registry enties here?

When using Autoruns make sure to let it hide Microsoft and Windows entries under Options as a safety and precautionary measure.

There is only one cfp.exe entry that I can find.

and i see conflict with other software as well…like Avast 5 anti-virus and Spybot with conflict of interest in security policy.

I asked the other mods to come and take a look as well to see if they can bring some extra insight.

Thanks Eric, that would be amazing, this is becoming one large headache. >:(
