Many computer users haven’t an Internet connection service available, for this reason they can’t updating their Windows operating system and security softwares automatically, they need to download manually update packages for maintaining updated their computers mainly against threats from USB memory devices.
At antivirus software case, it’s only possible updating malware definitions, not antivirus program engine. However I’ve knew that the new free avast! Antivirus 5.0 can be updated to most recent antivirus engine version when the last installation package is downloaded and installed selecting update components option.
I would like to know if Comodo Internet Security can be updated on this way or not?
I’d like this too! Avira frequently update note only virus database, also antivirus engine and many others components too!
Best regards!

Depending on your situation, the best way to prevent threats from USB memory devices is to disbale autorun for USB
any edition of Windows XP and Vista, open Notepad and proceed as follows:
- Insert (Copy/paste) the text in bold in the new Notepad file
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
@=“@SYS:DoesNotExist”
-
Untitled – Notepad → File → Save As … → .reg
-
Double-click .reg
-
Click Yes

create a text file autorun.inf in the USB. Make it write protected and hide the file!
