Comodo too noisy...

Hi Gang,

Well, I installed Comodo on my 88 year old mother’s computer and it just about drove ME nuts answering her phone calls about what to do with alerts.

I had it in training mode but since she does not use the computer every day, the week elapsed before she had used all the common programs she uses. Then it went into Red Alert mode for every process that was spawned from a given, known safe, program.

There needs to be a much better way of doing this for the end user. Remember, there are 11 kindks of people in the world: those that understand binary, those who don’t, and those who don’t give a d#$%, the just want the effing computer to work. 99.99% of the people out there are in that class and we need to design for their needs, not those of us who understand what the messages actually mean when an alert pops up.

At this point Comodo is not quite end-user friendly enough to reccomend to most of the people I know, alas.

Thanks.

What you could do is, after installing it, runn all the common applications and perform the most common operations, so these actions get recorded. Once these are done and the network and app rules are to your satisfaction, enable parental control and you won’t see another alert. Ever.

Hope this helps,

G’day and welcome to the forums.

To activate Parental Control, open CIS and click MISCELLANEOUS → SETTINGS → PARENTAL CONTROL.

You will need to set a password before you can turn the various options ON or OFF.

Hope this helps,

To draw on what panic has said, see this thread for more information on setting up parental control in CIS
