Comodo stopped working/Insufficient system resources

I tried scanning my computer this morning (virus db 1772) and when it got to the file called c:\boot\bootstat.dat it completely crashed comodo and after serveral attempts / reboots my computer was also freezing while trying to scan.

Heres a screenshot from this morning:

After this initial crash, if i try restarting comodo and try to run a virus scan i get the following insufficient system resource message:

http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/1184/crash2d.jpg

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled comodo + updated it and i couldnt scan again.

I’m actually unable to use the virus scanner at all right now and this is now virus db version 1773. I was having no problems yesterday apart from some false positives to do with steam but at least then i could still scan. I cant do anything now.

Please fix this…

Thanks,

David.

I just tried to scan again - it scanned the same file guard64.dll this time about 3 times over the course of 50 files then completely crashed as described in OP.

Faulting application cmdagent.exe, version 3.10.36658.530, time stamp 0x4a4e128a, faulting module pe.cav, version 3.10.36265.529, time stamp 0x4a4c3e43, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000002e2c, process id 0x180, application start time 0x01ca0e9b6585261e.

I’m running vista 64 bit.

thanks

This is the exact same problem I’m having. I tried excluding the files it hangs on, but it just dies on another file somewhere down the line. I am running Windows Vista Home 64bit and have yet completed a full scan do to this problem.

If just updating to the latest AV database does not work try this solution here:

I have the same problem here:

Faulting application cmdagent.exe, version 3.10.36658.530, time stamp 0x4a4e128a, faulting module pe.cav, version 3.10.36265.529, time stamp 0x4a4c3e43, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000002e2c, process id 0x3f0, application start time 0x01ca0effdb5bd759.

Vista Ultimate x64 SP2

I tried last night reverting bases.cav and also pe.cav. Boot with old version worked, after comodo updated itself the next boot already failed before the login prompt.

Any suggestions? I assume it’s still not fixed. anyone knows that version is supposed to be fine?
Right now I’m back to 1538. I think the problem occurred after this update: Monday, July 27, 2009 2:40:54 AM

Well, it solved my problem! Thank you! I realize now that when I installed Comodo and it started it’s update, I thought there was something wrong at the 30% mark when it just sat there and sat there, so I think I stopped in the middle of the the update and it was never right after that. This time around I let the update complete and everything has been great since I rebooted. So far, 2 successful scans, 2 days in a row. Thanks again!

P.S. BitDefender, you should pay attention. This is why I left you with 288 days left on my subscription; lack of tech support when your virus scanner failed to scan!

U might have conflicting software, something about "shell integration or shell extension" don't know the whole mombo-jombo to explain to u as I'm not a computer geek, I had similar simptomes with a security software once (was hungin' and crashin') and I was advised by a friend who in fact is a computer geek to do the following:

download latest version of ShellExView (freeware software) and install it and it will show u all the software on your system that are “shell integrated or shell extensions”

u will notice many columns and one of them is named “Company” and it tells u which company is the software from

all the software that are not from microsoft except Comodo software must be selected by pointing right-click on it and select Disable or multiple using Ctrl

close the ShellExView software and reboot (can’t remember if u must reboot but do it anyway)

try using Comodo scan now and see if it still hungs or crashes !!!

This is how I got my problem solved, I use win xp sp3.

Sorry if this post doesn’t make sense or for the ■■■■■■ edit, I’M DEAD TIRED, must go to bed but I will come back soon !!!

Might be a long shot for vista os but this was my solution to a problem I had with another security software on my win xp sp3.
I’ve posted this on other topics were people seem to have similar simptomes and I hope it helps !!!
