Comodo Spam?

Real nice… you embed my email address in every single line of this in order to make it that much harder to report it anonymously.

What else is your software that I have given complete control to doing to my system??

“Authentic & Secure”

Yeah, right.

Absolutely disgusting.

I am going to spread this all over the Internet, starting with reporting it to Spamcop and then publicizing this on the Usenet anti-spam forums…

hi there (:WAV)
err are you sure you didn’t submit/give your email address when you were installing any comodo product ???
or perhaps:

  1. you’ve signed up to comodo newsletter

or maybe
2)someone who has your email address use this refer a friend feature

???

Comodo is also spamming me.

No. I have never installed or used any Comodo products. Even if I had I wouldn’t have entered my email address. Even if an email address were required I would have entered a false address.

you've signed up to comodo newsletter
No. I do not sign up for newsletters for anything. Even if I did I would not use my personal email address.
someone who has your email address use this refer a friend feature
No. The limited number of people that have my personal email address that Comodo is spamming are in no way information technology inclined. Even if they were they know better than to use my email for referrals.

Absolutely no on all three counts.

I know where this email is coming from.

  • The email has been acquired from the Comodo Free Secure Email Certificates sign ups list.
  • Using my personal email address in this process is required by the nature of the service.
  • I signed up for two certificates using two different email accounts.
  • On both occasions I was extremely careful to ensure that I was not opting in for newsletters by un-ticking the “opt-in” check box. I made no mistake during this process.
  • I received no newsletter spam for the first eight months since acquiring a Comodo Free Secure Email Certificate.
  • In the last couple of months both email addresses have been receiving the exact same spam from Comodo (infosecuritynews.com).

This breach of my security and privacy by Comodo is unacceptable.

Posting via a bugmenot account since it is clear that Comodo respects neither the privacy nor the security of my email address.

This animated face seemed appropriate: (:AGY)

What’s going on, Comodo?

[at] bugmenot2,

Please check your PM’s.

Cheers,
Ewen

Hello Everyone,

Hope all is well.

We just wanted to address everyone about the recent Comodo emails you may have all been receiving. We recently decided to start an email marketing campaign reaching out to our current customers. These emails are a way to keep you up-to-date on Comodo products, offer tips, introduce new software, etc. We thought many of you would enjoy and benefit from such emails. We value all of our customers and we apologize if the emailing has been intrusive. We are only emailing people that have provided there email address and anyone can opt-out at any time. Please be aware that when you opt-out it can take up to 5 days to take you off of the mailing list. We appreciate your trust in Comodo and look forward to continuing to provide you with outstanding products.

Thanks again,

Comodo Marketing Team

Thank you for replying. Is there any possibility of you emailing out a newsletter instead of ads?

This is total rubbish, and I suggest everyone look at:

https://forums.comodo.com/general_discussion_off_topic_anything_and_everything/comodo_spam_mark_2-t31888.0.html;msg228010#msg228010

and in particular I want to reiterate that unsubscribing DOES NOT WORK, nor are there any settings ANYWHERE I can find to stop this SPAM. Comodo are SPAMMERS(!!), and as this topic is aptly named “…jerks, hypocrites”.

Why is Melih hiding, and not commented on this issue???

How long ago did you unsubscribe?

  • I did unsubscribing and it worked ok !
  • email was about Comodo products , it was not SPAM !!
    (:KWL)

(R)

Are you guys out of your f*cking minds ?

We appreciate your trust in Comodo and look forward to continuing to provide you with outstanding products.
If you appreciate peoples trust it might be wise to not abuse it, don't you think ?

Using your “customer”-database to send spam to people who trusted you with their e-mail addy …
of all the stupid brain-dead things I have heard marketing-folks do, this takes the prize .

Unsubscribe. If after 5 days they still haven’t removed them, contact them about it. Only report someone for spamming if they really have done or if after reasonable contact between you have been unable to get yourself removed from a opt-out list.

UNSUBSCRIBING DOES NOT WORK. Why aren’t there, at the very very least, user opt-out settings within my Comodo ‘account’ to stop this ■■■■. This is synonomous with spammers. Comodo are spammers.

PS Love the pop-up windows too - NOT. What sort of organisation have Comodo turned into - rhetorical.

Did it say it unsubscribed you? If so, how long have you given it?
Having the opt-out at the bottom of the e-mail mailing list message is standard practice and good practice.
5 days to do so is not and I cant really think of any reason why it would take that long to do.

  • I only received 1 (one ) email , after UNSUBSCRIBING ( 0 ) zero emails.
  • What is the problem , I do not understand ?

(M)

(:LOV)

(:LGH)

Okay, The argument and hates stop right now.

Melih, & Comodo - are very closely watching this process on how emails are being sent out. The reality is, How you get the emails is either:
a) You opt in your Email on installation
b) You got an SSL from Comodo SecureEmail.

Most people think Comodo are spamming them, because they probably don’t even remember they subscribed or whatever the case may be. Myself? I have unsubscribed yesterday, So far - 0 Emails, But it does take 5 days for you to be completely of the server. So, for those getting the emails… Unsubscribe and wait 5 days. Then come back and complain so Melih can then look into it.

And I also changed the title to something more meaningful.

Cheers,
Josh

I repeat, why is Melih not posting his personal response - he does not normally seem too shy about publicity. Embarrassment or disregard?

I suggest it should include the words somewhere “we are changing the system to ensure that users will not be bothered in future if they do not want to be, and have added add user account settings so you can instantly opt out at any time”. Personally, I wouldn’t bother with any apology - it is clear already how Comodo really think.

a) You opt in your Email on installation b) You got an SSL from Comodo SecureEmail.

Most people think Comodo are spamming them

Because they are, and not

because they probably don't even remember they subscribed or whatever the case may be. Myself? Then come back and complain so Melih can then look into it.

If I opted in, why are there no user settings within my Comodo account to stop this ■■■■ spam? I repeat, this is the behaviour of SPAMMERS. Boring, isn’t it. Annoying too. But then so is your spam.

And I also changed the title to something more meaningful.

No the original title was accurate - so Comodo/you were content with its title originally, but have now imposed retrospective CENSORSHIP. I have copies of these topics in case you decide to delete them completely.

And lest it be forgotten, you will recall that you deleted my multiple posts (see “Comodo Spam - mark 2”) on the grounds that I violated Comodo’s “highly aggressive no-spam policy”.

Of course I did, for a specific purpose, and I put my hands up to it. But they still look pretty clean. As for Comodo’s…

Spam or not, please consider this:

Keep the tone down or we may lock the topic.

LA

I would like to know if this is a real email from Comodo or a fake:
