It was an URL as a char string, even though there was no hyperlink.

This is just an announcement in the public forums, if you want to test further you may want to apply for the malware research forum group.

Then I have a question: when people post these CIMA results, the malware analyzed sometimes attempts to connect to more malware to download. The it is logged in the CIMA report. If people go to those logged sites, then they may get malware. What about that eh?

I also meant that you mods are so strict about keeping these forums free from links to malware, yet links are there right under your nose.

Placing a real link can be dangerous, if some user clicks it and the domain still exists and is still malicious. Of course, if precautions are taken, then danger will be practically 0%.

Let’s say I report a new malicious domain. I could report it like hxxp://www.domain.org. This won’t create a real link. So, warning people about this or that malicious domain is great thing, provided no real link is given. Accidents do happen. Specially with touchpads.

Of course, a warning should be given first.

WARNING - DO NOT ENTER THIS SITE! IT WILL (never say MAY, or curiosity will kill the cat :D) CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOUR SYSTEM.

Then the domain address, provided it gives no real link.

P.S: Be aware that I didn’t check if such domain www(dot)domain(dot)org exists or not. So, do not check it, if you’re not a knowledgeable person.

I’m not so sure about that: my Windows Live Profile used to link to malware I uploaded via Windows Live SkyDrive. The malware had warnings, was zipped, and password protected (with a pass like “virus” etc). The mods told me to remove it.

A “damaged” malicious link maybe not right with the mods.

If it is against forum policies, then we must comply with them. Not saying that what you did would do any damage, as it wouldn’t, but, well, rules are rules.

And, are we talking about an active malicious domain? Would you mind to send me a crippled link via PM, to see either or not I’m already blocking it? I’d appreciate it.

Can I make a suggestion?

How about we all do our utmost to never knowlingly post anything (a link, an obsfuscated link, a tinyURL link, a screenshot, a whatever) that could lead a less experienced user to a website that could infect them.

We wouldn’t like it done to us, so we shouldn’t do it to others.

If you must, do it by PM or, even better, by email or some other form of non-Comodo provided resource.

And it is OK to make suggestions to mods, and we will take them into account, and we may modify points of the policy out of user input if we consider it’s warranted. But until we say anything, please abide by the current policy. There must be some order. Thanks.
